Dialogue[]
- (First interaction)
- Yinshu: ...This is a bookstore. If you want to read or pick out a book, just go in and browse around. Call me when you want to pay.
Got anything you can recommend?
- Yinshu: I don't really read that much, so I can't really recommend anything... Well, the front of the shop is where we keep our bestsellers. There's gotta be a reason why they're bestsellers. Why not start there?
- Yinshu: "Views of the Universe from a Starskiff" is a record of wondrous exoplanets by a Foxian explorer... Oh, you're from an exoplanet anyways. In that case, hang on and let me think...
- Yinshu: How about this one here, "Otherworldly Delights"? It's a collection of short supernatural stories written by the boss here.
Boss, you could be a little more enthusiastic.
- Yinshu: ...Bookstores are for selling books. Besides, I'm not the boss here. I just help with running a few chores. I'm not in charge of sales here.
- Yinshu: But then again, the boss here doesn't really give a darn about this business at all. Here... This is a collection of short supernatural stories he's written, called "Otherworldly Delights."
- Yinshu: I'm a relative of the owner. He likes listening to other people's conversations. saying that it's good inspiration as an author.
- Yinshu: You may have seen him over in Starskiff Haven. He does storytelling in some teahouse called Sleepless Earl or other, calling himself something like "Mr. Xiyan".
I may have met him in Starskiff Haven.
- Yinshu: He likes getting attention. I'd be truly surprised if you haven't seen him.
Why are there storytellers aboard the Xianzhou?
- Yinshu: Have you seen storytellers on other planets? When you put it like that... I can tell you've probably already seen it before.
- Yinshu: All I know is, storytelling is a traditional form of performative art. I don't know much else. But perhaps the boss is using his gig as a storyteller to hang out at the teahouse and hear all kinds of supernatural and weird tales.
- Yinshu: How I wish he could pay a little more attention to his bookstore business... Ah well. Have you got any books there that you'd like to buy?
- (Continue onto dialogue options below)
- (Subsequent interactions)
- Yinshu: You pay, then pick out the "bookmark" you like, hold them close to your jade abacus, and download them to read later.
- Yinshu: If you don't have a jade abacus or if you just like the feeling of a book in your hands, just grab one off the shelf. Scroll rolls, bound bamboo strips, printed and bound paper books — we've got all the formats. Anyway, just come see me if you'd like to buy a book.
I'd like to buy a book.
I'd like to chat with you some more.
- Yinshu: Okay. Well, as you can see, I've nothing to do, so let's chat.
About supernatural tales aboard the Xianzhou...
- Yinshu: The boss here is obsessed with all the supernatural stories told on this ship, and even pays through the nose to make visits to other Xianzhou ships. He never really finds anything, but he has fun along the way.
- Yinshu: In fact, most of these stories are just due to otherworldly species or mere coincidence. The Xianzhou people aren't really flustered by any of that, and barely raise an eyebrow.
- Yinshu: But the boss says that no matter how brilliant this world is, people always need to have dark and ghostly stories.
- Yinshu: Reality isn't interesting, and what's interesting isn't real. Adding flourish is normal, and vagueness adds flavor." He's got this phrase etched onto his belt.
About recent bestsellers...
- Yinshu: There's a new suspense novel out that's very popular, but i haven't read it yet, so can't go over the exact details. But if you're interested in such stories, just buy it and you'll know for sure.
- Yinshu: On Xianzhou, we have immortal people, novel technology, and fantastical visitors from exoplanets... But somehow everyone wants to read about primitive crimes conducted in snowbound manor houses with no Cloud Knights, no technology, and no super powers...
- Yinshu: I don't really get it. Perhaps that's the charm of mystery novels?
The appearance of books on Xianzhou all seem kind of retro?
- Yinshu: Ah yes, tourists often make this remark.
- Yinshu: In fact, if you want, you can take the corresponding "bookmark" you like from the books, hold them close to your jade abacus, and download them to read later.
- Yinshu: I personally like downloading and reading off my jade abacus, but there's always people who like the feeling of holding paper books in their hands. The longer people live, the more they crave this kind of ceremony.
- Yinshu: Tsk, these physical books are such a pain. They take up space and need daily cleaning.
I'll be back next time.
- Yinshu: Away you go, then. Take care.

The Ambrosial Arbor is growing again...
- (Note: This dialogue option is available after having completed Wood Sprouts Anew, Fate Tilts Askew. It is available for clicking only once.)
- Yinshu: *sigh*
What's with all the sighing?
- Yinshu: You are the twenty-seventh person to mention this to me today.
- Yinshu: I see, I see... Mr. Xiyan would probably be interested in this.
- Yinshu: But I'm just a kid helping out here. Hope this thing doesn't impact my work...
Finally, the Ambrosial Arbor crisis is over... What's your take?
- (Note: This dialogue option is available after having reached a certain point in The Xianzhou Luofu storyline.)
- Yinshu: Alright! Alright! Just stop with all the Ambrosial Arbor stuff!
You didn't answer my question...
W—What's the rush?
- Yinshu: There have been 52 people who came to talk to me about this matter. Among them, 48 asked me whether there were readables that discussed the secrets behind the growth and ceasing of the Ambrosial Arbor.
- Yinshu: As a mere bookstore assistant, I have no say in the writing and publishing of readables... Alas... They should pester those editors instead. Anyway, I have no stock of those readables here.
