Void song whales[Note 1] are a species mentioned in various readables and NPC dialogues.
Description[]
Void song whales are similar in appearance to humpback whales. The tops of their front flippers and stomachs have distinct abstract patterns. The stomach of a void song whale has a very adverse smell.[1] They are apparently similar to aquatic creatures that lived on the Xianzhou Luofu called depth crawlers.[2]
Story[]
The Xianzhou Alliance first came into contact with void song whales in Year 500 Star Calendar, during the Lone Voyage Era.[3]
About ten Amber Eras before the start of the game, the "Mechanical Pirate King" Wyland began massacring void song whales for their brain extract, which he was told by a masked visitor (possibility a Masked Fool) would relieve his body's adverse reactions. The massacre was so frenzied that even the Annihilation Gang joined the hunt. However, Wyland eventually ran out of whale extract and died from graft-host rejection. According to statistics from the Intelligentsia Guild, there haven't been any living void song whales in that sector for a long time.[4]
When Yukong was young, her parents took her on a starskiff to see void song whales. The trip to see the void song whales was one of the turning points which set her on the path to becoming a fighter pilot.[2]
The Trailblazer has seen void song whales fly past the window of the Astral Express Parlor Car.[2]

- According to Silver Wolf, the hologram found on the ceiling of the Express represents a void song whale.[6]
