Verdantia, also known as the Planet of Verdant and the Old Verdant Home, is the original home planet of the foxians and the borisins.
Description[]
Verdantia consists of the riverlands, inhabited by the foxians, and the grasslands, inhabited by borisins herders. The planet had extreme seasons known as the "Vulpesummer" and "Lupuswinter."[1] Verdantia rice is still used by the Xianzhou Alliance, likely brought over by the foxians during their exodus.[2] Verdantia tongue was a common language understood by both foxians and borisin. Verdantia has a traditional fable of the "Wolf God and Deer God" that espouses balance between the Abundance and The Hunt.[3]
Eventually Yaoshi brought forth the Redspring, which transformed the planet and made it experience a population explosion and ecological collapse. With the Redspring as a medium, everything that the borisin needed was made from this miraculous source. The fields no longer grew grain but viscorpi instead, and borisin garments were no longer of linen or fabric but of embryonic flesh. Even the chilly snowlands that once terrified Verdantia civilizations were no longer a concern, for the borisin cultivated biological membranes in the polar regions to craft into warm dome-shaped tents, blocking the Lupuswinter beyond this barrier.[4]
History[]
Both the foxians and borisins originated from Verdantia. The foxians inhabited the riverlands, while the borisins were herders who inhabited the grasslands. The foxians saw the borisins as savage while the borisins saw the foxians as deceptive merchants. Despite their animosity, they cooperated with each other during the Vulpesummer and Lupuswinter. In the summer, they would set down their weapons for the rich harvests, but during the winter there would be unceasing conflict due to hunger.[1]
One Lupuswinter lasted far longer than usual, causing mass starvation. A prophet saw the end of the world and made a wish to Yaoshi for sustenance. This person is known as lady Tushan in foxian legends, while the borisins believe it was a man named Duran. Yaoshi split the mountains and the divine nectar of the Redspring poured forth. Those who drank from the Redspring gained vitality and strength from the meat of beasts they ate. Their bodies became increasingly bestial. The Redspring transformed the the Planet of Verdant, which experienced a population explosion and ecological collapse. The canine races prayed to Yaoshi for help but THEY did not respond. As a result, the borisins and foxians left for space. The borisins became spacefaring conquerors who brought the "Lupuswinter" to other planets.[1]
The foxians soon became livestock, servants, and currency under the tyranny of the borisin, who commanded them to craft tools for use, yet repeatedly dug out their eyes to prevent learning, and forbade them from possessing metals to avoid copying any tools. Many of them were eventually rescued by the Xianzhou Alliance, becoming one of the three main races of the alliance and the dominant culture on the Xianzhou Yaoqing. Thousands of years later, they still fight tirelessly for the liberation of their kin.[5]
Under the borisin, the Denizens of Abundance were involved with three large-scale wars against the Xianzhou Alliance. The borisin once invaded Thalassa, but were driven out by the High-Cloud Quintet. After the capture and imprisonment of the Abundance Axis's last Warhead, Hoolay, the coalition has greatly declined in strength, and the borisin political landscape was plunged into a state of extreme instability.[6]
After the foxians joined the Xianzhou Alliance, many of them who wished to rebuild their homeland formed the Verdantia Sect, which merged with the Homeward Sect. To this day, they remain a political force to be reckoned with. From the merging of the two sects, it is observed that their style of faith stands as something akin to a slogan for the Homeward Sect, as well as the Verdantia Sect. All those foxians want is to be back in their homeland, Verdantia.[7]
