Dialogue[]

Golden Hour[]

(First interaction)
Uma: Grab a bottle of SoulGlad, make your dreams a blast... Wait no, I'm not live on stream right now.
Aren't you from that show on TV...
Why are you singing the advertising jingle?
Uma: Huh? You heard that?
Uma: D-don't be so loud. It'd be a real shame if other people find out. Shh...
Are you a celebrity?
Uma: My name's Uma, I'm a news anchor from The Family. As for being a celebrity... I can't really say that.
Uma: But if you keep an eye out on the roadside billboards, you ought to have come across a few of my shows.
Why don't you want to be found?
Uma: *Ahem*... My name's Uma, I'm a news anchor from The Family. If you keep an eye out on the roadside billboards, you ought to have come across a few of my shows.
Uma: Technically, I'm currently clocked in, but I don't have anything to do, so I sneaked out for a stroll... Don't rat me out.

(If Uma's Emotion is set to Calm)
Uma's expression betrays no hint of joy nor sorrow; the very likeness of when she's reporting on the news.
Uma: Oh, it's you... Our conversation is off the record.
I want to chat with you.
Uma: Sure, but no sensitive topics.
What do you think of the news?
Uma: To be honest, I think a lot of news reporting has elements of... creativity in it, but it's harmless.
Uma: Like newspapers, the most important thing about TV news is to figure out what can and can't be said...
Uma: So us media here in Penacony tend to stick by a common rule: report good only.
Isn't this grossly irresponsible?
Uma: *sigh* I used to feel the same way — shouldn't the news restore the truth? But I've since come to a deeper understanding.
Sounds pretty sensible
Uma: Right? Right? I used to think the news had to restore the truth. But I've since come to a deeper understanding.
Uma: Think about it — why do Dreamchasers make their journey to Penacony if not to experience sweet dreams?
Uma: So in a sweet dream, people shouldn't be depressed by all kinds of troublesome things — just look, the news here is more like a kind of service with the express purpose of increasing everyone's sense of security and happiness.
Uma: Seeing as everyone only wants to pursue happiness, we only report on the things that bring people happiness — and that's enough.
Uma: Times are prosperous no matter when, and it's peaceful no matter where you are. There are no enemies to fight here, and no tomorrows to ever worry about.
Uma: There's already enough bad news out there in the real world, so why go and underscore it in the dreamscape?
Do you like your job?
Uma: I don't actually like being in the studio. The door to that room is super noisy, just like... just like a dying Insumousu dolphin.
Uma: I've considered changing careers more than once. But after hearing guests talk about Penacony's current situation, I came to realize how important this line of work is.
Uma: The Family does all they can to weave a dreamscape without any sharp corners, and I also want to play my part, too.
Nothing else.
Can I touch the fluff ball on your head?
Uma: Hey, don't tell me you're trying to... do something rude?
Uma: Fluff balls are very personal things when it comes to the Pepeshi people. There's going to be serious consequences if you just pet them without consent!
Uma: I heard that one Pepeshi ended up changing gender entirely after having their fluff ball stroked — that's scary!
Uma: I'll look past your transgression this time, but not again.
Thank you.
Uma: Goodbye. May only good things happen in the Golden Hour.

(If Uma's Emotion is set to Angry)
Uma frowns, and the fluff ball on her head darts back and forth in anger.
Can I touch the fluff ball on your head?
Thank you.

(If Uma's Emotion is set to Happy)
Uma: Another instant of peace passed in the Golden Hour... Wonderful.
Can I touch the fluff ball on your head?
Thank you.

(If Uma's Emotion is set to Sad)
Uma: My ideals would only shake the stability of people's lives... how ironic.
Can I touch the fluff ball on your head?
Thank you.

Clockwork[]

Calm
Uma: *Ahem*...
Uma clears her throat, straightens out her clothing, and sets up her most appealing look.
Angry
Uma frowns, and the fluff ball on her head darts back and forth in anger.
Uma: "Penacony News" sounds pretty prestigious, right? But if you ask me, it's college radio!
Uma: Sure, they've got a bunch of fancy titles like "Nominated for the Joseph Journalism Award" and "Top 100 Writer in the Cosmos"... but in actuality, they're such hacks that they're almost as bad as the paparazzi.
Uma: There was a draft they put out a while ago that actually mentioned the Miss Robin scandal. That's outrageous! Luckily it never made it to air.
Uma: Are these people really so clueless? Weaving a sweet dream is no easy task, so do you really have to pop that dream bubble with a needle?
(First time only)
Uma: Should stuff their mouths full of cake instead!
(Obtain Oak Cake Rolls Oak Cake Rolls ×2)
Happy
Uma: Ah, another instant of peace passed in the Golden Hour... Wonderful.
Uma: I can feel that this is The Family's dream. It might not meet everyone's expectations, but at least it can leave a deep impression on some of the people.
Uma: Looks like my work has some value after all — and nothing's worth celebrating more than that!
Sad
Uma: *sigh* I've never actually thought about being a reality fixer-upper before.
Uma: My dream was always to be an investigative reporter, chasing down hidden truths throughout the cosmos so that people would no longer be misled by low-quality information.
Uma: But thanks to the Cancer of All Worlds, all I can do is remain here in the dreamscape and help The Family smooth over their misdeeds. The very truth that I wanted to pursue has turned out to be the most insignificant thing of all.
Uma: I know all of this is necessary and a means to maintaining stability in the dreamscape. However...
Uma: It's just... ironic that I have to betray my own ideals for the sake of Penacony.

The Reverie (Dreamscape)[]

(First interaction)
Uma: ...Hm? Now that's interesting, the story of these monsters would make great news articles.
Uma: Not only can the Dreamjolt Troupe interact with humans, they even offer performances! It seems that the legendary drinksmith is indeed an impressive woman. I should invite her for a special feature interview on my program.
(Chat)
Uma: Let me think... I probably don't have time but, speak quickly, I snuck out here to have a look around.
I want to know your thoughts on Siobhan.
Uma: Siobhan? That's the name of the mysterious drinksmith, correct? I've heard a number of things about her.
Uma: Her background is complicated, if you want to know the specifics then you should ask around for yourself. Either way, I know that she holds a lot of renown within The Family... The Iris Family, if I remember rightly...? You cannot tell anyone that you heard this from me.
I want to know what you think about me.
Uma: Are you the new drinksmith here? I hear that it's you that has been looking after those monsters lately? I hear it's going well, and they trust you a lot, that they are willing to share their thoughts with you. It seems you're quite the adept communicator.
Uma: I will send someone to write a report on what I've seen here and let our viewers know. Keep an eye on the TV!
