The Tuskpir, also known as Dreaming Noble, Eternal Peace, and Sacred Branch, is an animal from the Xianzhou Alliance.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Tuskpir has an elongated proboscis, no horns, and speckled fur like the sky dotted with stars.
Physiology[]
The Tuskpir is a wondrous creature that feeds upon human dreams and is often used to treat psychological ailments involving anxiety and unease. Tuskpir meat is spicy, warming, non-toxic, and quenches thirst, replenishes blood, and soothes the organs, while it's "horn" is bitter, cooling, and also non-toxic, relieving pain by activating qi, and relieving asthma by soothing qi.
It is said that the spring waters where the tuskpirs live often have a soothing and meditative effect. The water breaths and creates a spiritual aura. In the olden days, the Luofu people used to grind down the animal's "horns" into medicine, calling it Spirit-Soothe Powder.
Hugging a Tuskpir while falling asleep can raise sleep quality, treat insomnia, and relieve anxiety and depression. It is noted that the Realm-Keeping Commission has verified that the tuskpir horn is no longer in any modern medicine, and its hallucinatory effect appears identical to that of intoxication.
Behavior[]
Tuskpirs originate in the Xianzhou Zhuming. A migratory beast, it lives in hot springs, valleys, and other places with geothermal heat. It is a timid animal by nature. Its proboscis is used to filter feed on aquatic insects and small fish like a whale would.[1] Lingsha keeps one as a pet, suggesting they can be domesticated.[2]

Sacred Branch[]
Tuskpir horn is actually a clump of excrement. Poachers nowadays deliberately classify it into grades, making ridiculous assessments for different excrement patterns and types just to pump up prices. Though some are of the opinion that the sacred branch could be used as ornaments or burnt as incense. Once burned, they calm the mind. It is not to be ingested orally.[3]
Spirit-Soothe Powder[]
Made from pulverized tuskpir "horn", plus other ingredients. Rich in minerals but toxic if overdosed.[3]
Tuskpir Wrap[]
Tuskpir Wrap is said to be actually made from tuskpirs.[4] There are conflicting opinions on whether they should be eaten, however.[2]

- The Tuskpir is voiced by Chen Tingting (陈婷婷)[5], the Chinese voice actress of Stelle and Sushang.
- When Lingsha describes the Tuskpir as "Warm, sweet, not for consumption" (Chinese: 性温、味甘、不可食用) in Event Adventure Mission By His Lonefist to the Xianzhou, it shares the same Chinese description (English: "Docile in nature. Sweet in taste. Inedible."[6]) with the Warp Trotter in Data Bank: Enemy Creatures.
- 性温 can translate to either its docile nature or its "warm" property in traditional Chinese medicine.
- The Tuskpir and the Warp Trotter also share similar models in shape.
Etymology[]
- Tuskpir likely derives from Tusk and Tapir.
- 梦 mèng means "dream" and 貘 mò means "Tapir." In East Asian folklore, 梦貘 is a mythological creature that feeds on dreams.
