Trotters are a type of interdimensional creature.
Description[]
Trotters are docile in nature. Despite being inedible, they are said to be sweet in taste. They spend most of their life feeding and fleeing. Travelers who encounter these creatures see them as good omens.[1]
Appearance[]
Trotters resemble pigs, albeit with no visible eyes. Their body is white on the top half and black on the bottom half. They have a pair of big ears and two visible tusks, the color of which can be golden or silver depending of the species variation. Their backs have a slot akin to that on a piggy bank.
Abilities[]
According to the description written in the Interastral Peace Guide, Trotters are trans-latitudinal organisms.[2] They have an uncanny ability to teleport, which allows them to quickly flee when they sense danger.
Most Trotters are not capable of fighting, as they are generally too timid to do so. The only exception is Numby, a Trotter that Topaz took in as a pet. Numby is less hesitant around strangers than most Trotters, though it was still initially afraid of Jade.[3] It is also capable of combat, either rolling into the target or generating fire tornadoes from its ears.[4] It can also use these tornadoes to call in reinforcements.[5]
History[]
Jarilo-VI[]
Regin invented the Homemade Sensor No. 223 to track nearby "anomalies." The sensor reacted to various Trotters in Belobog, which were found to have the following abilities:
- Transforming into a vending machine[6]
- Transforming into an advertisement poster[7]
- Cold temperature resistance[8]
- Hiding inside a projecting device[9]
- Playing hide-and-seek[10]
One Trotter was even found to have transformed into Regin, and could speak like a human. It was suspected of stealing Regin's research notes and selling them. The copied paper, full of typos, was submitted before Regin's original one.[11]
Xianzhou Luofu[]
A young girl called the Trotter Trainer participated with her Trotters as the "Trotter Battlefront" team in the Luminary Wardance Ceremony. Due to the Trotters' inability to fight, they were eliminated from the tournament by Luka. These Trotters appeared to understand their trainer and consoled her on the loss, while also conveying their well-wishes to Luka.[12]
Penacony[]
In Penacony, various Trotters have been attracted by the strange floral scent emanating from the swimming pool on the airship Radiant Feldspar, serving as non-interactable NPCs in the Aft Pool.
Trot Prime, Trot Deuce, and Trot Tri from Occurrence Three Little Pigs appear as non-interactable NPCs around Divergent Universe: Terminal Interface, each murmuring its own line in the background. Another two non-interactable Trotters are also found playing hide-and-seek on the balcony above the Terminal Interface.
Gameplay Notes[]
- In the overworld and Simulated Universe domains, Trotters will run away if they notice the player. After a certain amount of time fleeing, they will jump into a warp hole and leave the field.
- In the overworld, Warp Trotters can be found in specific areas. If they flee successfully, they will respawn after the respective map is reset. When they are defeated, they will drop Stellar Jades, and will not respawn in subsequent exploration.
- In Simulated Universe, the Adventure Domain includes a minigame "Trotter Catch" which requires the player to catch Trotters in the domain to earn points.
- If Topaz & Numby is in the overworld or Simulated Universe domains, her Technique will cause Trotters to be attracted by Numby within a set radius. Attracted Trotters will not react to the player's presence unless they switch characters or attack with Topaz. If Numby is too far away, Trotters will react as normal.
- Acheron's Technique cannot instantly defeat Trotters in the overworld or Simulated Universe domains. It can defeat Trotters in the Trotter Catch minigame, but it still consumes Technique Points, as these Trotters are counted as defeated enemies.
- During battle versus daily reset overworld enemies, a Sequence Trotter may randomly enter the battle at the start of each wave, and will grant extra drops after defeat.

Trivia[]
- When an enemy Trotter panics in battle, it starts murmuring mathematical and astrophysical equations related to black holes, such as the Schwarzschild radius.
- In the Probability Museum of Divergent Universe, the exhibit Herta: Collector's Edition depicts a doodle of the Trailblazer chasing a Trotter on the notepad.
Etymology[]
- Trotter may derive from a pig's trotter (aka a pig's foot), often used for food.
- 扑满 Pūmǎn means "piggy bank (money box)" in Classical Chinese, often in the shape of a pig. 扑满 literally translates to "break it when it's full."
