Titania is a mentioned character. She was the Empress that supposedly commanded the Republic of Glamoth's Iron Cavalry.
Profile[]
Titania was the Empress of the Welkin Empire of Glamoth, who had no real political power as the "Empire" was actually a Republic governed by a ruling council. She was created as a weapon to telepathically control the Iron Cavalry and was kept in captivity and restrained.[2][3]
Appearance[]
Based on Firefly's memories, Titania was woman with a blurry face seated upon a throne, her hands hanging wearily. The Empress's touch from her fingertips were described as feeling icy and unyielding as solid ice.[1]
History[]
In order to turn the tide in the invasion of the Swarm, the ruling council of Glamoth resolved to alter the essence of humanity in an effort to adapt to the war and created a weapon "born to fight."[2]
The result of all this was "Titania." The Empress, who held no power, telepathically commanded and controlled the Iron Cavalry knights connected to her. As soon as they are removed from their incubation pods, the Iron Cavalry are taken by other older knights to meet the Empress where she connects with them telepathically, swearing their loyalty to her and to Glamoth.[1] In the dreams that these warriors are woven into, the sole meaning of their existence is to guard Titania and her "empire." In their short lives, they studied, fought, received the Empress' commands, faced the enemy, and died.[4][2]
No one knew when exactly the falsehood of the "empire" was revealed. Perhaps it was from the day when the old humans in Glamoth's territories fell below a certain percentage, or maybe the day when the Swarm's onslaught dissipated into thin air, or maybe it was the day when scientists realized that the Empress was beginning to revolt against her captivity.[2]
When the remnants of the Swarm no longer posed a threat and the leaders of the council rang the bell of peace, informing the citizens that they had dispelled the apocalypse and the republic would be ushered back into the light of day — What arrived was not daylight, but the beginning of another sunless night.[2]
The leaders of the council discussed the post-war situation, passing judgment on Titania, who had never wielded real power. It is because of her control over the Iron Cavalry, whose power rivaled that of the Swarm. She was considered the greatest threat to the Republic's continued survival. People rang the bells of peace, declaring to the populace that the Swarm had dispersed, and the azure sky would return to the hands of the Republic.[3]
It is implied that the Iron Cavalry played some part in Glamoth's destruction, which occurred after the threat of the Swarm was dispelled. After decades of fighting, the remains of the Swarm insects and the mechas became dense debris strewn throughout Glamoth's planetary system, connecting to form a "River of Death." It is unknown what became of Titania after Glamoth's fall.[2]
