Tayzzyronth, who amidst hatred and solitude ascended to become the Aeon of Propagation.
Then, a vast "Swarm" swept across the universe.

Loading Screen: The Swarm Disaster

The Swarm Disaster is an era of history surrounding Tayzzyronth's ascension to Aeonhood and the spread of The Swarm around the universe. The event took place in 13XX AE, and it serves as the main topic of Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster.

Below is an approximate timeline of events, largely derived from Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster. Though it is not definite, one trait that helps clarify order of events is the presence of "Origin Universe," "Swarm Universe," and "Ember Universe" in Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster Secrets. "Origin Universe" corresponded to before Tayzzyronth's ascension, "Swarm Universe" as after, and "Ember Universe" as the closing of the event.

Description[]

An unprecedented catastrophe befell the Swarm-dominated Lepismat system, and the final remains of the Coleoptera ascended to godhood, then turned into a nightmare that swept across the galaxy. In this ancient "Swarm Disaster," all living things sought survival through prayer and struggle. The Path of Propagation has reached an unprecedented peak.

Looking back at the ancient Amber Era: In the face of the overwhelming Swarm, life obeyed the most primitive instincts — love, loneliness, the pain of survival, and the confusion of self. They exist in all beings and become "Nutrition" for Tayzzyronth and their spawn.

The beginning and end of the Swarm Disaster as absurd as the life and death: Tayzzyronth the Propagation ascended to godhood in loneliness and hatred, and finally fell under the hands of the Aeons. The Swarm Disaster dissipated, and all mortals perished.

But the Propagation's spawn are endless, and so, too, is the disaster. Mortals will be born again, and the cycle will never end.

History[]

Buildup/Origin Universe[]

  • The Lepismat system was home to a flourishing ecosystem with great biodiversity, containing a large variety of insects but devoid of human life.[1] According to an unknown Armed Archaeologist, the insects that inhabited this system had multiple biological sexes and may have coexisted with each serving their own unique functions within the Swarm. However, it remains unclear which branches of the Swarm were responsible for reproduction during this era, and at some point, the ancient insects gradually drifted toward the brink of extinction.[2]
  • A giant Architect is warned by the hammerings of Qlipoth that there is a disaster coming, presumably the Swarm Disaster, and begins repairing the barriers of multiple star systems urgently. However, he knows not for what reason, and decides to pause what he is working on.[3]
  • Somewhere in the universe, a group of Mourning Actors were traveling on their gondola while guarding a Memory Bubble, which contained a Shadow of IX.[4]
    • The Memory Bubble is monitored by a female Mourning Actor in a Memory Zone.[5] She refuses to take off her mask and show her face around anyone, and sleepwalks while having erratic dreams.[4]
  • The Lepismat system was discovered by Elydichnan army, led by a Self-Annihilator who couldn't remember anything after three days[6] and was "blessed by Joy." The Self-Annihilator believed in "half-deciphered whispers that were played in reverse," likely Terminus, and was looking for his "lost self."[7] At roughly the same time, a group of Bounty Hunters began expeditions onto Lepismat, led by a female bounty hunter who had visions of Lepismat.[8][Note 1]
    • The Elydichan Army began to farm the insects on Lepismat, taking great pride in the slaughter.[9] The Elydichan army and bounty hunters would enter a conflict, and both sides would begin using the local ecosystem as weapons.
    • During one battle, the Coleoptera would be driven to near extinction. Driven by extreme loneliness and hatred, Tayzzyronth rose to the sky and ascended as the Aeon of Propagation, while Ena the Order watched.[10]

Swarm Disaster/Swarm Universe[]

  • The Swarm, created by Tayzzyronth's self-duplication, begun their spread across the universe, starting on the isolated island of Mandalan on an Lapole Major.[11] There, the Lapole Major government had to call for an evacuation as the Swarm took over the world in little time.[12]
  • The bounty hunters began to be plagued with visions. This would develop into everyone killing each other until the female bounty hunter confessed to her lover that she was using insect-dust witchcraft and asked him to kill her, which he did.[13][14]
    • The bounty hunters are defeated by the Elydichnan army. However it is unclear if this happened before or after they started killing each other.[15]
  • The bounty hunters would grow to believe Tayzzyronth was after them, and the title of "bounty hunter" became near-extinct.[16]
    • A group of bounty hunters opened an intergalactic bar.[16]
  • The Swarm passed through the tavern at the world's end, and the Masked Fools there researched how to make drinks out of insects, such as Chitin Cumin Wine. At the same time, a blurred ripple appeared in a goblet, which the Masked Fools interpreted as a message from Aha, calling them to assist other Aeons. In response, the Masked Fools stole a gondola from the Mourning Actors and embarked on a journey through the stars, unknowingly taking with them a group of Nameless who were staying at the bottom deck.[17]
    • This journey would last many Amber Eras, with passengers from all worlds and factions joining along the way, though the Masked Fools would eventually vanish from the group.[17] Throughout this journey, the various factions argued about how they would assist the Aeons.[5]
    • At some point, the gondola was caught in a miasma of insect wing powder, causing the passengers to plunge into a state of delirium. In the ensuing chaos, a Nameless accidentally tripped, did a full somersault, and hit a button that sent the group to the Elydichna Starzone.[5]
  • As Tayzzyronth spread through the universe, THEY were approached by Oroboros the Voracity and the two fought. The war would last five Amber Eras[18] and go on to affect two-thirds of all living worlds in the universe.[19]
  • Since the Propagation had disrupted the Order of the universe,[21] Ena extended an invitation to Qlipoth to ally against Tayzzyronth, and the two made a deal that was possibly related to Oroboros.[22]
  • Around this time, Oroboros would disappear from the universe, and Ena was assimilated into Xipe the Harmony due to the convergence of THEIR Paths.[23]
    • It's suggested that Xipe and Ena coexisted for a brief moment and were both in conversations with the other Aeons to deal with the Swarm Disaster.[24]

Tayzzyronth's Fall/Ember Universe[]

  • After several Amber Eras of voyaging, the gondola arrived at its destination at the Realm of Elydichna, only to find that Aha had deceived them all.[25] One of the passengers found the leader of the Elydichnan army who originally conquered Lepismat and caused the ascension of Tayzzyronth, who now had crooked ankles and claimed to have been alone talking to himself for a long time. During their conversation, the man would be interrupted by sudden flashes of his memory and temporarily stop talking. He handed the passenger a cloth written full of words, which they recognize as a memoir written by a Navigator who loves poems. As the passenger felt a sense of familiarity, the man remembered that he was a Self-Annihilator.[26]
    • This conversation is stated to take place "before powerful hammering, whimpers and indecipherable words sound off," which mirrors the language used while Qlipoth destroys Tayzzyronth in the presence of the other Aeons.[27] This should mean that this interaction took place just before the fall of Tayzzyronth.
  • On the gondola, an "eerie, amalgamated sound [emanated] from all corners of the sky," possibly from Aha, which drove everyone onboard to ecstasy with divine revelations. The people onboard couldn't be stopped from breaking open the Memory Bubble and unleashing the Shadow of IX. The Self-Annihilator embraced the Shadow of IX and was consumed, and The Arbitrators appeared to seal the Shadow of IX.[28]
    • After this event, the Swarm throughout the universe begun to calm down.[28]
  • In the end, the Aeons HooH, Qlipoth, Akivili, Xipe, and Aha teamed up to take down Tayzzyronth.[23]
    • To destroy Tayzzyronth, an enraged Qlipoth used THEIR hammer to crush the Propagation, extracting the very concept of Propagation from THEM, thus diminishing THEIR power.[27]
    • During this event, subtle laughter or the symphony of numerous sounds could be heard.[27] The laughter likely indicates the presence of Aha while the symphony of numerous sounds could indicate the presence of Xipe. Akivili and HooH were also likely present for this event, since the Trailblazer (as the avatar of Akivili) was able to witness it and Ruan Mei claims that the phenomenon of Equilibrium always appears to be present amidst signs of Elation and Harmony.[23]
  • As the Swarm withdrew, worlds that had lost the light of Ena and were not protected by Qlipoth had their sun returned by HooH, who also made additional subtle changes to the universe during all of the aforementioned events in order to maintain Equilibrium.[29]

Legacy[]

Despite Tayzzyronth's fall, THEIR offspring still wreak havoc across the Cosmos and continue to leave ripples throughout history. Some major events that were caused long after the Swarm Disaster are as follows:

Speculation[]

  • After observing the events of the Swarm Disaster through the Simulated Universe Expansion Module, the contributing members of the Genius Society found three major points of suspicion, which are discussed during Event Adventure Mission Swarm Disaster: The End.
    • The first point of suspicion is the unlikeliness of the Lepismat star system's destruction. According to Herta, Lepismat was a world that was the farthest thing from civilization, and yet it suddenly became a hub for myriads of Paths to intersect. This led her to believe an external force caused this disaster to happen, though the Geniuses don't know who yet.[Note 1] When talking about potential instigators, Herta mentions the Voracity, the Order, the Elation, and the Finality that flashes across the countless trivialities and details.
    • The second point of suspicion is that Oroboros and Ena vanished in the middle of the events encapsulated in the Swarm Disaster. Herta suggests that there may have been another story progressing along in the shadows underneath the main stage, though she also states that there could have been something left out in the simulation.
    • The third and most important point of suspicion is how there are still endless Swarm offsprings roaming around the universe despite Tayzzyronth's fall. This led Herta to question the exact root of the Path of Propagation, which she believes will solve the remaining mysteries involving the Swarm Disaster.
  • A resurgence of the Swarm Disaster has been implied as a possibility through various sources, though the likelihood of this occurring is unknown.
    • Herta speculates that "Tayzzyronth" may eventually resurface because the Swarm continues to be highly active across the universe. She also cites other "classified intelligence" that supports this theory, but it is currently unknown what that information is.[33]
    • A scholar claims that because Tayzzyronth's descendants remain in the form of the Swarm, THEY could return at any moment. This scholar is also in possession of what appears to be a fragment of Tayzzyronth imprisoned in amber. Fu Xuan, upon attempting to divine the fate of this item, could not see its future, which she believes supports the scholar's claims.[34]

Notes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 While never directly confirmed, it's heavily suggested that Aha was personally responsible for many of the events of the Swarm Disaster. The Self-Annihilator who lead the Elydichnan army was said to be "blessed with joy" and the female bounty hunter who had nightmarish visions is compared to Aha. Aha also comments that everything THEY do in service to Ena, who witnessed Tayzzyronth's ascension.
  2. To call further scrutiny to this event is the presence Memory Bubbles before Swarm Disaster, as seen in Simulated Universe, Swarm Disaster, Secrets: Gondola: Helping Gods! (Part I). The existence of Memory Bubbles suggest the Garden of Recollection is already active, which would require Fuli.
