Peak is an NPC on Jarilo-VI, located in Great Mine.

Profile[]

Peak is a miner practically in name only, as more often than not, he can be found snoring instead of working. He makes time for his extended sleep schedule, going so far as to limit the amount of food he eats per day, and is even known to catch Z's during crises. To him, sleep is one way of escaping the troubles of the Underworld.

Dialogue[]

(First interaction)
Peak: *snore*
Icon Dialogue Arrow It's time to wake up!
Peak: *snore* ...Hmm? Who is it?
Peak: Oh... Ooh! We meet again! It seems we have a connection.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Don't you have to work?
Peak: Work is just a small part of my life.
Peak: My philosophy is to work for one day and relax for three.
Peak: *rumble*...
Peak: Hehe, time to get up for breakfast. I've been sleeping all day.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Breakfast?
Peak: Mm-hmm, I usually just have one meal per day. Isn't the first meal of the day called "breakfast"?
Icon Dialogue Arrow You haven't eaten all day?
Peak: It's only been one day, which is pretty normal. It's really no big deal...
Peak: My record is fasting for three days, so this is nothing.
Peak: It's not like I might die. Look, I'm alive and doing just fine. Hehe... And don't look at me with all that pity. It's nothing.
Peak: By the way... Why did you wake me up again?
(Continue onto dialogue options below)

(Subsequent interactions)
Peak: *snore*
Peak: *Snore*... Ah! I was having a really nice dream... Huh, it's you again?
Peak: Wait a minute. Why are you looking at me like that...? Was I drooling in my sleep or do you have something to ask me?
Icon Dialogue Talk I'm curious...
Icon Dialogue Talk How can you live on such a small amount of money?
Peak: My expenses are low. One person eats and the whole family is fed. Hehe. If you have one meal a day like me, you could also save a lot on food.
Peak: Don't get me wrong. My goal isn't to save money... It's just that I sleep most of the day and I don't do much work, so my energy consumption is naturally low.
Peak: I don't have much desires for shopping. I'm happy with what I have. The clothes I'm wearing are old. As for other kinds of worldly possessions... I don't need any of them!
Icon Dialogue Talk Why are you so lazy?
Peak: ...Lazy? No, I'm not lazy! It's just my way of life! It's not like I don't do anything at all. I simply do the minimum amount, but I do my work on time...
Peak: If you ask me, mining is not worth the effort and energy. Digging every day can trap the mind...
Peak: My way of breaking the cycle is to... sleep! I stay clear of the world's disturbances through this low-cost act and I regularly reflect on my life...
Icon Dialogue Talk Aren't you worried about what people say?
Peak: People aren't saying anything. I get along well with everyone.
Peak: They all know how I am and over time they have become used to my lifestyle... After all, I'm not in anyone's way, am I?
Peak: Besides, no one has the time to obsess about other people's business nowadays... People are lucky just to be able to take care of themselves.
Icon Dialogue Talk What will you do when you're old?
Peak: That's far in the future. Why think about it now...? Don't worry so much. I won't starve to death!
Peak: Look at those hard-working miners. They are soaked in sweat all day long, and what do they get? They miss out on life when they're young and when they're old, they are sick and in pain...
Peak: You should focus on them instead of worrying about me. In my opinion, they are the poor ones...
Icon Dialogue Exit I don't have any other questions.
Icon Dialogue Exit Nothing. I will leave you alone.
Peak: If you ask me, humans should just abandon those unrealistic desires and return to nature... return to the underground...
Peak: Okay, I'm going back to sleep... *snore*...

Icon Dialogue Talk How have things been?
Peak: Nothing special recently...
Peak: If you must know, my sleep quality seems to have improved again...
Icon Dialogue Arrow Wow, that's great.
Peak: Yep... But I have no idea why... Do you think it's because the temperature got colder lately?
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why?
Peak: Why? I have no idea... Do you think it's because the temperature got colder lately?
(Both dialogue options will lead to the following response)
Icon Dialogue Arrow I guess so.
Icon Dialogue Arrow I don't think so.
Icon Dialogue Arrow The temperature can change here?
Peak: There are actually subtle changes every day. Others might not notice it, but the changes can affect the quality of my sleep.
Peak: Anyway, the heating pipes are not as hot as they used to be. But I feel better with the cooler temperature...

Icon Dialogue Talk What business secrets did Sampo say to you?
Peak: Nothing really. We were just talking about how much I could get if I rented my mining tools out.
Icon Dialogue Arrow I thought you talked about something important.
Peak: It isn't important, but it's good.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why is it good?
Icon Dialogue Arrow You're revealing your secret like that?
Peak: What's the big deal? Sampo didn't say to keep it a secret.
Peak: Such a good thing is hard to come by, and I really want to share it with you.
Icon Dialogue Arrow Why is it good?
Peak: Well, I actually thought this up when I was half asleep.
Peak: Think about this — I usually work one day and rest for the next three days, since I can earn enough in a day to support my expenses for the next three days.
Peak: But now it's different. If someone rents my mining tools, I can earn money during the time I don't work!
Icon Dialogue Arrow It means you can make more money!
Peak: Yes, but making more money isn't the main point...
Icon Dialogue Arrow It means you don't have to work anymore!
Peak: Hah, your mind's just as quick as Sampo's.
Peak: Anyway, based off my calculations, if I don't go to work myself, I can cut my daily expenses in half too... If all I need to do is to rent out my tools, why would I even need to work at the mine?
Peak: All in all, wouldn't that mean someone else is doing the work for me, but I'm still earning money? Tsk tsk, the mere thought of it makes me happy...
Icon Dialogue Arrow Here's to your success.
Peak: Ha, I'm counting on it.
Peak: *yawn*... I'm getting sleepy again. We'll stop here today. I want to take a nap...
Icon Dialogue Arrow That sounded exactly like a supervisor...
Peak: Ooh... You're right.
Peak: *yawn*... Looks like the problem's become complicated and it's gotten me all sleepy. Let's talk another time. I'm taking a nap...
