A memetic entity[Note 1] is a being made from ideas, thoughts, and memories, and thus lack a physical form.[1]
Description[]
Various forms of memetic entities exist. Some are created from Memory Zones[2] and never had a physical form to begin with, while some, like Memokeepers,[1] were originally physical beings that have given up their bodies and are only able to travel via the memories of others.[3] While this form gives advantages to the individual, it is not without apparent downsides, such as the danger of forsaking one's "self."[4]
Entities created in the Memory Zone typically cannot manifest in reality.[5]
Memokeepers[]
Memokeepers are memetic entities created via the Remembrance, thus possessing more power than the average memetic entity and are capable of resisting the effects of Remembrance and Enigmata.[6] Memokeepers are capable of traveling different worlds through memories, and are free of the confines of memoria or physical limits.[1] They also possess the ability to hide from sight[7] or disguise themselves at will.[1]
Penaconian Entities[]
Inside Penacony's Dreamscape, a person is capable of giving up their physical body to instead remain as a memetic entity.[8] However, this puts them at risk of Remembrance and Enigmata. A memetic entity made will eventually dissolve and pass away.[6]
Watchmaker/Gallagher-Made[]
The Watchmaker and Gallagher also possessed the ability of creating memetic entities. Most of their creations cannot leave the Dreamscape.
- Misha and Clockie are memetic entities created by the Watchmaker. They can only be seen by the Astral Express Crew, serving as part of the Watchmaker's legacy: A Child's Dream.[9]
- Origami Birds in the Dreamscape are memetic entities, implied to be created by Gallagher, based on the Famous Five Origamists and the cartoon characters. They generally cannot be seen by individuals in the Dreamscape, with exceptions including the Trailblazer. Dr. Blues is the only Origami Bird converted from a former human, who was Orla, and he can manifest in reality due to Gallagher's power of the Enigmata.[10][11]
- "Dormancy" is a memetic entity created by Gallagher as a mode of transportation between Dreamflux Reef and the sweet dream.[12]
Memory Zone Memes[]
The Memory Zone Memes are usually found in places brimming with raw memoria, like A Child's Dream and The Reverie (Dreamscape). They are composed of certain perceptions originating from the subconscious in the Memory Zone. They act based on what perceptions compose them, attempting to consume more memories.[13] An example of this is the Memory Zone Meme "Allseer", who is composed of the subconscious fragments of observation, retrospection, and inspection, pursuing the preservation and existential understanding of the self.[14]
Others[]
After the death of Quinn, her sister Alley has been maintaining her life activities in the Dreamscape.[15][16]
After the death of Lesley Dean, his fans started the "Lesley Dean's Rebirth Project" and created his illusion in the Dreamscape. This illusion was formed by numerous inseparable thoughts in the fans' Synesthesia Dreamscape by drawing from his memory storage and their impressions of him.[17]
