The Lunar Embryo is the plaguemark of the Xianzhou Yaoqing.[1] The Lunar Embryo takes the form of a red moon and is watched over by the Caelorum Venti, as part of the covenant signed between the Xianzhou Alliance and the Vidyadharas.[2]
History[]
In Borisin legends, the first Warhead, Duran, grew dissatisfied with the Borisins' limited lifespan and power. He slaughtered countless Borisins and Foxians alike, casting their bodies into the Redspring bestowed by Yaoshi, the Aeon of Abundance.[3] Through a form of "genetic sorcery," the Lunar Embryo was born within the Redspring. Duran ascended the Lunar Embryo and obtained a heart shaped like a deep-red full moon, known as the Crimson Moon, which he used to replace his own. From that time onward, each Warhead succession ritual required the successor to cut open the chest of the previous Warhead and consume the divine heart, thus claiming it as their own.[4]
While the Borisin Warheads retained the Crimson Moon, the Xianzhou Yaoqing eventually came into possession of the Lunar Embryo. In Star Calendar Year 4800, the five lineages of the Vidyadhara forged an alliance aboard the Xianzhou Yuque, committing their sacred vow to writing: "This oath shall remain unbroken, standing stronger than even earth and steel."[5] The five High Elders were each bound to safeguard the respective plaguemarks of their Xianzhou ships, with the Caelorum Venti entrusted to watch over the Lunar Embryo on the Yaoqing.[2]
