Kami (Japanese: 神), also called the Magatsu no Morokami,[1] Yaoyorozu no Magakami,[1] Yaoyorozu no Kami,[2] and Magatsuhi no Kami,[3] are demonic beasts that descended upon Izumo from Takamagahara.
Description[]
The kami were described as evil, demonic beasts[2] that slaughtered people without mercy.[3] They overturned the skies, burned the rivers and oceans, and shattered the land of Izumo. Kami were much stronger than humans, as the people had to exhaust the might of their entire country just to slay one kami known as the "Sovereign of Revelation." From its bestial body, they forged the very first Edict Edge, a blade that could harness the divine power of Takamagahara when the wielder recited its mantra held within.[2]
All the kami were presumably destroyed when Izumo and Takamagahara were engulfed by the Shadow of IX.[4] The Intelligentsia Guild is interested in the kami, but the Path they were associated with, if any, remains unknown.[5]
Since the names of the slain kami correspond to their Edict Edges' abilities, it is likely that the kami held those abilities themselves. For example, the blade forged from the Sovereign of Revelation allowed mortals to comprehend all laws and order.
