Kalevala is a location mentioned in Honkai: Star Rail.

Description[]

Kalevala is an inhabited world with a cold climate. It can be found around two hundred system hours from Pier Point and has recently opened their trade routes. The planet contains several massive supernium deposits.[1]

History[]

Several Amber Eras ago, the planet's native people were dominated by several borisin packs who became stranded on the planet, revering them as their Beastmasters.[1]

An undetermined time later, an unknown Cloud Knight from the Xianzhou Alliance crashes his starskiff and becomes stranded on this planet. Determining that he would not be able to repair the starskiff, he instead fought the borisin on the planet alongside Guyun to protect the people.[1]

Swords to Plowshares Kalevala Stone Monument

The stone monument, which is inscripted with the Xianzhou Script "PLTX SYZJ XBRTZ" and translates to "I have drifted far from my homeland and am on the brink of death. Yet, I take solace in having honorably fulfilled my duties."[1]

The Cloud Knight with the help of the Kalevalans was successful in killing all of the borisin. Before the Cloud Knight succumbed to mara, he left Guyun to the people of Kalevala and tasked them with defeating one final "demon" — his mara-struck self — and constructing a stone monument in which to seal him away. Once he was sealed, a golden tree sprouted under the monument, in which Kalevalans use it as proof that the hero exists.[1]

Afterwards, the people saw the Guyun as a symbol of kingship and dubbed them the Miekka Kivessä, or Sword of Heroes. Many wars were fought amongst each other to obtain it and claim the title of king. Guyun, who grew tired of fighting wars returned to the stone monument and etched himself in there, with no one able to pull it out.[1]

Over time, the planet's people ended up with a council instead of a king as ruler. Argenti, who visited the planet, was able to remove the sword from the monument, in which he decided to return the sword to the Xianzhou Alliance.[1]

After the sword learned it was to be given away to the strongest warrior at the Luminary Wardance Ceremony and again used for combat, they asked Argenti to steal it from the Artisanship Commission and take it away from the Luofu. When the others caught Argenti, he and Guyun told the story of Kalevala to the Trailblazer, Yunli and Dahao.[1]
