Graysen is an NPC on Penacony, located in Dreamflux Reef.
Profile[]
Graysen's family has been members of the Bloodhound Family for generations, and he became a hunting Hound of the Dreammaster. When he was about to receive a promotion, he heard the name of Hanunue from The Family Head. He cannot accept that Hanunue the Hounds' founder was a sinner according to others. And so, he relentlessly sought the truth, arriving at the Dreamflux Reef, and met the Watchmaker. Upon hearing the past stories, he finally found the answer and viewed Hanunue as a hero in his heart.
Graysen is the author of the Hanu's Adventure readable (also known as Lil' Brother Hanu), and presumably the one who hijacked the messages from staff of the Hanu's Adventure arcade game. In memory of Hanunue, he inserts the actual history of Penacony told by the Watchmaker in the readable.

Dialogue[]

- (First interaction)
- Graysen: ...A stranger's visage?
- Graysen: That you visited the Dreamflux Reef and still made it this far, it means you know this dream very well.
- Graysen: Let me ask you a question: Do you know the name "Hanunue"?
I know.
- Graysen: That's right, but while many have heard his name, few truly know him.
I don't know.
- Graysen: Heh, no matter. It's this cursed dream that buries the names of heroes in the night.
I only know Brother Hanu.
- Graysen: *sigh* Mr. Watchmaker's initially wanted to make the cartoon to preserve his story, but the cartoon ironically buried his actual existence.
- Graysen: Hanunue was a wanted interstellar criminal hailing from the Harbeck clan on Nashoba. In 2147 AE, he single-handedly masterminded the tumult in the Montour System. He was finally apprehended and sentenced by the IPC, and served his time in Asdana's frontier prison.
- Graysen: But this criminal was not repentant during his incarceration. Within just a few years, he plotted another riot that is well-known among the stars... giving rise to an unfamiliar name appearing in the Asdana star system — you must know of this name.
It is Penacony.
- Graysen: Yes, this very planet, the Planet of Festivities — Penacony.
It's the planet of Hanu.
- Graysen: Hmph, that hero was not so ostentatious. He named the planet that he personally liberated — Penacony.
It's Planet Baseball Bat.
- Graysen: Err, that hero much preferred brawling to baseball. He named the planet that he personally liberated — Penacony.
- Graysen: Such a great hero, yet unsung in his own territory. He was even labeled a witless tyrant by later generations. The tragedy!
- Graysen: So... I asked The Watchmaker to entrust me with the task of writing the Lil' Brother Hanu. I don't know whether you've played that game before.
So you were that cursed game designer!
You need to add more rewards!
You need to reduce the stage difficulty!
- Graysen: Err... The game was made by Clock Studios, and I was only in charge of writing the narrative.
- Graysen: Sorry, I'm not great at embellishing things. I just retold the story that the old man told me verbatim.
- Graysen: It would be wonderful if you learned of Hanunue's life from it.
- Graysen: I still have a souvenir for that game here. I can talk about it if you'd like.
- Graysen: My friend, be sure to make the most of your stroll around the Dreamflux Reef. There are hidden things that The Family does not wish for the world to see... as well as things I hope you will see.
- (Continue on to dialogue options below)
- (Subsequent interactions)
- Graysen: Hmm... You're changing my emotions, aren't you?
I want a Brother Hanu souvenir.
- Graysen: Hehe, it's not made yet. Come back next time.
- Graysen: But... if you wish to buy it, you must be prepared to pay the "price."
I'd like to chat with you...
- Graysen: Mm, what do you wish to talk about?
About your past...
- Graysen: Me? I'm just a stranger who deserves no name, someone with a meaningless past.
- Graysen: I was once a hunting Hound of the Dreammaster, biting down on the enemies of The Family who would harm the Dreamscape. I reveled in the glory of the Hounds... until after the Tuneriser ceremony in which I was to receive a promotion, when I heard Hanunue's name from The Family Head.
- Graysen: I was restlessly curious: What kind of a person was he? This founder of both the Bloodhound Family and Penacony? I asked The Family Head draped in wolven shadows, but my request was met with silence.
- Graysen: I asked many people, with some saying that he was a madman who massacred innocents and others who said he was a vehemently tyrannical ruler. Some even said he was a hopelessly average man who did as much harm as he did good.
- Graysen: My family has been Hounds for generations. I take pride in being a Hound, and I would never accept that the Hounds' founder was a sinner...
- Graysen: ...And so, I relentlessly sought the truth, arriving at the Dreamflux Reef, and met with that friend of Hanunue's — the Watchmaker. Upon hearing him narrate the past stories, I finally found the answer... he was a hero, at least in my heart.
About Hanunue...
- Graysen: Hanunue... Penacony's founder, the Bloodhound Family's first head, and the master of this Dreamscape before it became a beautiful dream.
- Graysen: He has been dead for centuries. He once brought me vexation and caused me confusion, but now he is a role model that I emulate in spirit.
- Graysen: The Croc-eating Mad Wolf, Tyrant of Nightmares, Asdana's Fang... He has many names, but I think there is only one title that befits him — Rebel.
- Graysen: He rebelled against the oligarchs who invaded his home, resisted the IPC that restricted his progress, and fought against all that he could fight against. He is an idea materialized. Alas... this idea is fading in the current dream.
About Brother Hanu...
- Graysen: Heh, he's probably the character with the least suspense in the Clockie cartoon, because the Watchmaker wrote Hanunue's name on it.
- Graysen: Some think this is deriving entertainment from this hero and the suffering of the past... Initially, I was very averse to this as well, but I later realized that if we were to narrate such stories to others, this would be the most Penaconian way to do so.
- Graysen: The guests revel in joys from dusk till dawn and dreamchasers only chase after fame. Even Family members like us only have ears for the fanatical faith, pledging ourselves with foolish loyalty... No one cares for the people and the matters that are buried with the dead. So, why not join the crowd in this carnival and narrate the stories of absurdity?
- Graysen: Ahem... Truth be told, I was quite happy when I wrote Lil' Brother Hanu.
- Graysen: It doesn't sound like a bad way of life if I don't return to the Bloodhound Family and instead stay here to create Brother Hanu's story...
That's all the questions I have.
Goodbye.
- Graysen: Farewell. If you wish to talk about Hanunue, I'm more than welcome to entertain you anytime.
Clockwork[]
Activate Clockwork
- Calm
- Graysen: The Watchmaker's paltry tricks are no match for a Family member of my level. You don't have to resort to such antics if you want to learn about me.
- Graysen: Let's talk about topics that calm me then — like where I come from.
- Graysen: I was born into a bloodline that has served The Family for generations, because my ancestor was a scale degree II grand guardian, and had personally ushered in the will of the Eternal Centurion.
- Graysen: I obeyed Harmony's teaching since I came to this world and served the various clans with my siblings, never once betraying them...
- Graysen: So, when I came to the Dreamflux Reef and saw that my own faith was derided, insulted, and hated, I was enraged. But when I understood all that had happened here, I was suddenly enlightened!
- Graysen: I don't think I betrayed Harmony. In fact, it is Harmony that made me to accept all this... Whether it be the Watchmaker or Hanunue, they all simply desired a peaceful haven free of troubles, which is also what The Family hopes for.
- Graysen: Everyone's dreams are the same, yet we became foes due to our differing allegiances. How unfortunate...
- Angry
- Graysen: The Watchmaker's paltry tricks are no match for a Family member of my level. You don't have to resort to such antics if you want to learn about me.
- Graysen: Let's talk about something that makes me angry, then — such as how there are more and more rumors about Hanunue these days.
- Graysen: Honestly, Hanunue was not a perfect leader. He made many mistakes while governing Penacony, resulting in the loss of many innocent lives...
- Graysen: But his courage and resistance saved even more people. He should not have been simply branded as a criminal.
- Graysen: Hanunue's mistakes were amplified exponentially in the history books that we have access to these days, as if he was the one who created Penacony's crisis, paving the way for The Family's legendary rescue of this world. Preposterous!
- Graysen: This is why I wish to spread Hanunue's heroic deeds across the Dreamscape. The people will only give him a fair judgment when everyone becomes aware of these stories!
- Happy
- Graysen: The Watchmaker's paltry tricks are no match for a Family member of my level. You don't have to resort to such antics if you want to learn about me.
- Graysen: Let's talk about something that makes me happy, then — there are more people nowadays who wish to learn about Penacony's past.
- Graysen: Perhaps the Watchmaker's cartoons are working, or that there are more knowledgeable individuals in the cosmos nowadays... All in all, this is a good start.
- Graysen: There are many things I don't understand about Hanunue, either. His story is too long, and the Watchmaker did not finish telling me about them when he was alive... Which is why I will find it with those who are curious.
- Graysen: Friend, you should be one of us as well, right? Then let's go check it out together. Let's "trailblaze" upon those unknown stories.
- Sad
- Graysen: The Watchmaker's paltry tricks are no match for a Family member of my level. You don't have to resort to such antics if you want to learn about me.
- Graysen: Let's talk about something that makes me sad, then — there aren't many left out of those who once fought beside Hanunue. How many eyewitnesses do we have left for even older stories, then? For stories that happened thousands of years ago?
- Graysen: Even if one turns into a memetic entity with the power of the Dreamscape, those who aren't Memokeepers will inevitably wane in how the Remembrance forgets, gradually dissolve in the corrosion of the Enigmata, and quietly depart from existence just like the Watchmaker did.
- Graysen: Life is far too short, and the past that walks shoulder to shoulder with such lives is far too fragile. The followers of Abundance use their timeless corpus to resist time, the followers of Remembrance seal the past into volumes, and the Candelagraphos scholars of the Guild hurry everywhere to seek records...
- Graysen: But even so, they cannot salvage all of the past, nor save the heroes who perished together with bygone times.
- Graysen: Friend, this is why I need to tell you Hanunue's story. Only by telling the past to the next generation can we resist the flow of time...
- Calm
