Why does everybody in this hellhole seem to know who I am?

Gouteng: That's to be expected. Everyone knows everyone in The Shackling Prison, so word travels fast around here.

Gouteng: You probably don't know who I am. Let me introduce myself. I'm a former disciple of Sanctus Medicus and the current Chief Technical R&D Officer of the Arma Correctional Group.

Gouteng: I'm usually busy developing new products for Arma, but I also sell medicines in a personal capacity. If you're ever in need of medicine, don't hesitate to come to me!

Gouteng: And before I forget, the Correctional Group doesn't take monetary payments, only Trick Snacks.

Are your medicines licit?

Gouteng: Don't you find this place a little too out of the way to travel to just for licit medicines?

Gouteng: That said, you needn't worry. My goods are absolutely safe for consumption! Madam Chiyi would never greenlight my research in here otherwise.

Gouteng: Those are just boring old snacks to you, but I'll have you know that they're no different from money to us! I also know that you can synthesize thousands of Trick Snacks with a flick of your wrist... In other words, you hold the reins of The Shackling Prison's entire financial system!

Gouteng: Think of all the profits you could be making if you leveraged that!

Gouteng: Ask away! I can't chat long, though. I still have some matters to take care of.

Why did you join the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus back then?

Gouteng: Mainly because there were too many restrictions around conducting research at the Alchemy Commission. I had to navigate layers and layers of red tape just to replicate some biotech processes and ancient prescriptions recorded in tomes. It's so bureaucratic!

Gouteng: But after I became a disciple, things became much less complicated. After I gained access to the underground connections afforded by the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, even the approval process for taking time off work was much quicker!

Gouteng: I've turned over a new leaf since, though... No, really! My only goal now is to be an honest businessman alongside Arma and Shiratori. We'll grow the Correctional Group into as large and powerful a business as we possibly can!

Gouteng: When that happens, I may even be able to pick up where I left off and continue my research here at the Shackling Prison, hehehe.

What are your responsibilities as the Chief Technical R&D Officer?

Gouteng: Arma excels at making products that can greatly improve one's carceral quality of life out of the trash lying about in prison. While he's no doubt a deft hand at creating trinkets, that's really all that he's good at.

Gouteng: Not me, though. I'm an alchemist! Where you see kitchen scraps and trash, I see toothpaste, body wash, skincare products, and more. Where you see pests and irritants, I see medicines, supplements, snacks...

Gouteng: We have an abundance of raw materials in the Shackling Prison, but there's also an appalling lack of equipment and facilities here. Many things you wouldn't even take a second look at outside are rarities in here, and making these simple household chemical products is but child's play to me!

Gouteng: All I made in the beginning was toothpaste, but when Arma noticed what I did, he spotted a business opportunity and roped me into his venture.

Gouteng: Since then, I have developed many bestsellers for the Correctional Group, such as Immortal's Delight-flavored toothpaste, Flaming Tea-flavored hot sauce, instant mung bean soda...

Gouteng: I personally try out all my products, so rest assured I can attest to their quality! Of course, if your stomach does become upset, I can supply you with detoxification and anti-diarrheal medication on the house, hehe.

Is the business really your sole focus now?

Gouteng: You're perceptive, aren't you? Well, the answer is no. Since we only have one life to live, we shouldn't give up our hopes and dreams so easily, don't you think?

Gouteng: I'm an alchemist, after all. Even if I'm doomed to eternal confinement within the Shackling Prison, there's no way I'd be willing to resign myself to a lifetime of making household chemical products by hand.

Gouteng: I've been wondering... Perhaps certain academic conundrums can only be solved more easily if one is incarcerated in the Shackling Prison. For instance... the secrets of the Primus Immortus?

Gouteng: Oops, I might have said a bit too much. Can we pretend we never had this conversation? Hehe, thanks!
