Gnaeus is a mission-exclusive NPC on Amphoreus. He is the current cycle's Strife Titan, Nikador.[2]
Profile[]
Gnaeus is a human with a mysterious past. In reality, he is actually the embodiment of Nikador's Reason; the Titan's divinity had been split into five segments under King Eurypon.
In the present, Nikador attempted to attack Okhema, resulting in Mydei, Phainon and the Trailblazer heading to Castrum Kremnos after its location was discovered. During the battle, the three realized that it was essentially immortal and Mydei stayed behind in order to stall the Titan as long as possible while a solution could be found. The Trailblazer, Phainon and Castorice attempted to obtain an audience with the Time Titan Oronyx, though it refused their attempts. However, upon taking a glance at the Trailblazer, Oronyx caused Fuli to gaze upon them, granting them the path of Remembrance and gifted them the memosprite Mem.
With Mem, the Trailblazer and Castorice went and asked about Castrum Kremnos' past, allowing Mem to recreate the city-state's past. There, they found Gnaeus attempting to enter the tournament, but he was denied as he needed a party of three. The Trailblazer and Castorice offered to work with him. During the trials, Gnaeus expressed discontent with how the Titans had fallen into "playthings" for humans before realizing that his two teammates were not in for the competition and stated that he was only here to eliminate the roots of foolishness in the city-state. At the same time, he also felt whispers coming inside and wished to investigate it.
As they proceeded further, the trio ran into a thief lurking inside, who the Trailblazer and Castorice recognized as a weapons merchant they had met outside. Gnaeus attempted to kill them, but Castorice stopped him from doing so and he relented, telling the thief to scram. Gnaeus eventually realized that the two were not from the era and was told by Castorice about the threat Nikador would pose in the future. As the Trailblazer restored Nikador's embodiments, Gnaeus ultimately realized that he was the last of the Titan's embodiment — Reason, and that Nikador's soul was corrupted beyond the point of salvation. Gnaeus warned them that they would be fighting a Titan at the zenith of its powers, but if they prevailed and slew him, asked them to use his Coreflame to continue fighting against the black tide.[3]
