Duran was the first Warhead of the Borisin. He was a mythologized figure for the Borisin.

Story[]

Originally, the Borisin were a short-life species which fought for their survival in the shadows of night. Borisin ballads speak of a day when there was a great thunderstorm and flesh and blood fell from the sky, likely due to a plague catastrophe caused by the Abundance. Duran was said to be born to the Borisin's chieftain 72 days after that day.[1]

According to Borisin ballads, on the Old Verdant Home, the harsh winters were known as Lupuswinter. One particular Lupuswinter stayed far beyond its due, causing extreme poverty and hunger. After foreseeing the end where the entire world shall be covered in bleak death, a savior climbed to the peak of the tallest mountain in that world. The Borisin believed that this savior was Duran (in the Foxian versions of the story, the savior was a woman named Tushan).[2] Duran sought the Aeon Yaoshi's blessing, seeking immortality for his people. The Borisin's ballads attest that Yaoshi would only bless the strong, and thus THEY commanded Foxians to guard THEIR enlightened tree. THEY left Duran with a beast called the Taowu that also sought the sweet dew of immortality from the tree. Seeing the Foxians as Yaoshi's test of strength, Duran and the Taowu killed thousands upon thousands of Foxians. Once there were no living Foxians showing face, Duran walked through the carnage and took some dew from that tree, claiming immortality. He then asked Yaoshi, "Would you not share your blessing with my fellow kin?"[1]

Duran would also create the Lunar Embryo, a full moon-shaped crimson heart that was formed by the countless remains of both borisin and foxian alike combined with genetic sorcery. This heart would be passed down to subsequent Warheads, who would either fight or die to claim it.[3] The current bearer of the Lunar Embryo is Feixiao[4].

Yaoshi then allowed the dew of immortality to fall to the ground as rain[1], forming the Redspring. Those who drank from the Redspring obtained power, dexterity, and strength from the beast meat they devoured. Their blood, too, stirred with the ferocity of animals, and their bodily forms became increasingly bestial.[2] Borisin ballads describe that Yaoshi then commanded that the vanquished Foxians become the Borisin's slaves for perpetuity. Duran then mandated that the Borisin conquer the heavens to repay his goodwill, thus beginning the Borisin's conquest of other planets.[1]

Dr. Zongguang from the Luofu's Grand Virtue Academy attests that the majority of these Borisin myths are dramatizations concocted to justify their enslavement of Foxians and plundering of other civilizations.[1]
