I'm sure you're both familiar with the Xianzhou's long galactic hunt, but have you heard of the Denizens of Abundance Wars? As the Xianzhou has continued to cleanse the universe of immortal abominations, so too has the Abundance Axis succeeded in breaching our defensive lines. They pushed the Xianzhou to the brink of disaster.
The Denizens of Abundance Wars are large-scale conflicts that have occurred between the Xianzhou Alliance and Denizens of Abundance. Currently, there has been three documented wars.
History[]
First War of Abundance[]
- ~Year 3400 Star Calendar ― The "Flaming Catastrophe," one of the Three Sufferings of the Era of Bloodshed. The Xianzhou fleet encounters a Dyson tree, also the mortal enemy of the Primeval Imperium — Muldrasil, homeland of the Wingweavers, feeding off nearby stars. A war breaks out as a result.[1][Note 1]
- Fatigued from the Civil War (the "Living Catastrophe" of the Three Sufferings), the aurumaton rebellion, and their emigration plan, all the prisoners in cryo-hibernation are released to counter the invasion — including the Reignbow.
- The Reignbow heads into the prison deep within the Xianzhou Zhuming to persuade the imprisoned Heliobi leader, the Flint Emperor, to help the Xianzhou fight off the Denizens of Abundance.
- The Reignbow and the the Flint Emperor make a deal, allowing the Flint Emperor to possess their physical body, in exchange for the power of the Heliobi.
- Inspired by the Reignbow's sacrifice, the Xianzhou residents make the same deal, forming suicide squads and marching alongside the Heliobi. This is the origin of the name "Cloud Knights."
- The ships of the Xianzhou fleet enters battle formation in this order, from the nearest to Muldrasil to the furthest: the Yaoqing, the Luofu, the Yuque, the Zhuming, the Fanghu, the Cangcheng, and the Xuling.
- The Reignbow Arbiter appears as the Aeon of the Hunt and shoots their Sky-Shattering Lux Arrow from the bow of the Yaoqing, using their famed bow "Xuanyuan", causing great casualties among even the furthest ships, the Xuling and Fanghu. The arrow smashes into the Ambrosial Arbor, penetrating Muldrasil, and severing the connection between the Luofu and Muldrasil, turning the tide of the war against the Abundance legions.
Aftermath[]
- After the battle, the Reignbow disappears and the seven ships gathered with a Xuling messenger to authenticate, share content, and review the details. This declaration is the final product, hereby creating the Xianzhou Alliance as it exists today.[2][3]
Second War of Abundance[]
Prelude[]
- Year 5320 Star Calendar ― The Yuque Divination Commission witnesses the destruction of Muldrasil, the homeworld of the Wingweavers.[4]
- Year 5700 Star Calendar ― Lord Ravager and Overlord Celenova boards a Xianzhou Ship and requests a ceasefire with the Xianzhou Zhuming, requesting the ship to change course and assist in attacking the homeworld of the wingweavers.[4]
- Year ? Star Calendar ― Yueyan, the Foxian Helm Master of the Xianzhou Yaoqing's Sky-Faring Commission, left his position after witnessing the Antimatter Legion's destruction of Muldrasil after the first Denizens of Abundance Wars as the Alliance stood by, Yueyan's belief was shaken and he decided to re-think the long-life species' duty and purpose in life, driving a starskiff to roam the stellar seas in search of an answer.[5]
- Year ? Star Calendar ― On the ancient planet of Rahu, Yueyan found an Emanator of the Plagues Author — a living entity called Shuhu. Yueyan witnessed how Shuhu granted life back to Rahu, which had long ago become a dead planet. He followed Shuhu and recorded their healing miracles and various teachings, ultimately founding the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus and becoming its first master primus. He subsequently composed the Divine Scripture of the Secrets and Miracles of Shuhu's Manifestations.[5]
War[]
- Year 5749 Star Calendar ― Shuhu led the Denizens of Abundance in an invasion of the Xianzhou Yuque. During the resistance of the Alliance against the Abominations of Abundance, the Intelligentsia Guild dispatched a troop consisting of the Learned to join the war. The troop helped in defeating Shuhu.[6]
Aftermath[]
- Year 6300 Star Calendar ― The Xianzhou Cangcheng is devoured by Rahu, Devourer of Worlds, the planet activated by Shuhu.[1] Jingliu is one of the few survivors of the incident.[7]
- Year ? Star Calendar ― Jing Yuan is invited by Jingliu, previous Sword Champion of the Luofu, to her team—comprising of herself, Baiheng, Yingxing, and the Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng. They thus form the legend of the High-Cloud Quintet.[8]
- During this time, their feats include:
- After the capture and imprisonment of the Abundance Axis's last Warhead, Hoolay, the coalition greatly declines in strength, and the borisin political landscape was plunged into a state of extreme instability.
- Year ? Star Calendar — Shuhu, who was defeated in the Second War, rallies a great army to attack the Xianzhou once again, and Baiheng is killed in the battle. Afterward, Shuhu disappears without a trace.[9]
- After less than a hundred years active ― The High-Cloud Quintet falls apart.[10]
- Year 7379 Star Calendar ― The Sedition of Imbititor Lunae. The Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng and Yingxing cause turmoil that threatened the sacred wood by attempting to bring their fallen companion, Baiheng, back to life using the power of the Transmutation Arcanum in Dan Feng's possession and Shuhu's flesh. However, their attempt failed, creating a "draconic abomination" that attacked the Xianzhou and was eventually defeated by Jingliu.[11] Yingxing was also made immortal.[9] The Cloud Knights joined forces with the Vidyadhara Preceptors to assault Dan Feng, eventually locking him in the Shackling Prison.[12] There he was tortured and sentenced to forced molting rebirth.[13]
- Year 7380 Star Calendar ― The sword master of the Xianzhou Luofu, Jingliu, succumbs to mara and goes insane, slaughtering many Xianzhou citizens.[9] She manages to escape Starskiff Haven before being confronted and defeated in battle by her disciple Jing Yuan.[14] Jingliu's name was wiped from the face of the cosmos, and the title of Sword Champion among the Luofu Cloud Knights has remained vacant since.[15]
Third War of Abundance[]
Prelude[]
- Year ? Star Calendar ― Yuque Master Diviner Jingtian reveals to Fu Xuan that he chose to teach her in spite of divining beforehand that his life would end by her hands one day. Unable to accept this, Fu Xuan ran away from the Xianzhou Yuque despite her family's dissuasion and the hurdles she had to cross, joining the Luofu's Divination Commission with its more unrestricted culture, and devoted herself to calculations. She vowed never to let that prediction come to pass and also wanted to prove with her own hands that her teacher's prediction was nothing but his own ludicrous delusions.[16]
- Year 8038 Star Calendar ― Yewliho led the Preta, with 127 men remaining, to the Fanghu, determined to submit and pledge allegiance to the Alliance after the death of her son at the hands of borisin Bloodwind Pack Chief Kobo.[17]
- Year 8040 Star Calendar ― After two long years of careful deliberation, the Alliance decided to pardon these borisin for their crimes and allow them to live inside the Fanghu under strict surveillance. This was on the condition that they comply with all Alliance research on borisin, as well as submitting all beast ship-related technology to them.
- This was also the time that Zongguang met Yewliho. As a cultural anthropologist, they were ordered to interview the 127 borisin, in order to deepen the Xianzhou's understanding of borisin society. Throughout the course of their research, Yewliho and Zongguang developed a deep friendship.
- Likely because of her hatred towards Kobo, Yewliho always hoped that she would be able to lead her Preta to fight for the Alliance. However, a request like this was unlikely to receive approval. Yewliho made this request again and again and was rejected every time.[17]
- Year 8070 Star Calendar ― After 30 years, she could bear this cycle no longer and began to seek Zongguang's assistance. Zongguang suggested that she write a long letter explaining her life and background in detail. This would allow her to explain her hatred of her enemies to the Seven Arbiter-Generals and why she longs to fight for the Alliance.[17]
War[]
- Year 8072 Star Calendar ― The Third Abundance War.
- Yewliho writes My Return to the Path.[17]
- The Xianzhou Yaoqing and the Xianzhou Fanghu alerts the Xianzhou Luofu about the assembly of the Denizens of Abundance army once more, as well as the revival of Ketu Mirage, the roaming star — and an attack on the Fanghu.
- The Luofu dispatches four brigades of Cloud Knights to help them fight: the Rainbowfall Fleet, Vernalbolt Fleet, Pyrocrane Fleet, and Starlance Fleet.
- Dan Shu's friend Yufei is enlisted in the war and sent to a field hospital on the Fanghu.[18]
- Without receiving permission from the Alliance, Yewliho and the Preta launched their final assault, killing an unknown number of Denizens of Abundance.[17]
- Diviner Fu Xuan of the Luofu proposes a plan to the Six Charioteers to send out an SOS signal to the last observed location of the Reignbow's Lux Arrow, using the Yuque's Cloudpeer Telescope, which would be shipped to the Fanghu using a Navis Astriger.[19][20]
- Just as the Xianzhou faces defeat, the Reignbow Arbiter descends onto the physical plane and annihilates the borisins' fleet using their Lux Arrow, causing collateral damage to the field hospital and killing Yufei.[18]
- The Yuque's Master Diviner, Jingtian, who was the only person who had the permission to use the Cloudpeer Telescope and could send out a signal in the format of the Reignbow's decree, perishes on the Fanghu.[19]
- General Yueyu of the Yaoqing, who was on the battlefield with the Verdant Knights near the Cloudpeer Telescope, is also killed in the blast.[21]
- Yewliho and the Preta managed to transport at least 4,000 civilians to safety before the Reignbow's Lux Arrow descended. During this process, all 127 borisin warriors, including Yewliho perished.[17]
- During the course of this battle, the Xianzhou Luofu loses over 63,000 fighter jets and over 120,000 pilots, and nearly one-fifth of the Xianzhou Fanghu's delves are destroyed by the Lux Arrow's bombardment. As for the overall casualties of the Xianzhou Alliance: among the near-million pilots that participated in the air battle, not more than 100,000 survived. Among these casualties are Caiyi, Yukong's best friend.[22][23]
Aftermath[]
- Around this time, Lingsha and her master Yunhua, the former Cauldron Master of the Luofu, are exiled from the Luofu to the Zhuming in a dispute regarding the Vidyadhara. This sentence is arbitrated and carried out by Jing Yuan. As the chief alchemist, Dan Shu becomes the acting head of the Luofu Alchemy Commission.[24]
- The Xianzhou Fanghu stopped issuing new travel passes briefly due to the damage inflicted by the third Abundance War. Due to the Vidyadhara's inability to reproduce, they permanently lost a large number of their population. After the new travel policy was put into place, the ship opened up to visitors once more.[25]
- Yukong gives up flying and transfers to the Luofu Sky-Faring Commission, eventually becoming the Helm-Master of the Luofu. She also adopts Qingni, Caiyi and Guangyuan's daughter, as her own.[23]
- Dan Shu loses faith in the Reignbow Arbiter becomes one of the leaders of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, gradually growing the organization and recruiting a large number of the Luofu Alchemy Commission staff.[26]
- Sometime after the death of General Yueyu, Feixiao takes up office as General of the Xianzhou Yaoqing.[27]
Legacy[]
- Though once the most famous tourist attraction of the Xianzhou Alliance, ever since the Third Abundance War, the Xianzhou Fanghu had adopted self-preservation policies to recuperate. As a result, they had cut off most of their regular communications and trade with the other Xianzhou ships, a decision from the Fanghu's high elder, Glaciator Marum, implicitly stemming from the Vidyadhara's inability to produce offspring. Unfortunately, the place could no longer accommodate vast numbers of tourists in recent years.[28]
- The Third Abundance War Reignbow's Road Museum is built upon the ruins of the entire East Sea Delve, which was razed to the ground during the war. In Reignbow's Road Museum, a holographic History of Reignbow's Road formed using the Vidyadhara's cloudhymn magic is displayed. The exhibit shows how the catastrophe took place and how the Abundance Axis launched an aggressive attack against the Fanghu.
- The Palace of Mortal World exhibition hall in the museum is where the Fanghu and IPC have built a replica of Moundfish Avenue, the busiest area in East Sea Delve before the war. The daily lives of the 39,823 residents is manifested in the form of Mirage Echoes showing their comings and goings prior to the disaster.[29]
- Shuhu may have been sealed in a box following his defeat at the hands of Baiheng. At present, it is unsure if he is the one sealed in the box or not. The Ten-Lords Commission has kept the box in the lowest level of the Shackling Prison for now, which must not be opened unless authorized by Marshal Hua and the Ten Lords altogether.[30]
- ~Year 8100 Star Calendar ― After 30 years of dispute and controversy, Yewliho's posthumous autobiography: My Return to the Path, is finally published.[17]
- March, Year 8100 Star Calendar ― After years of the organization growing unnoticed, the Master of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, Dan Shu made contact with the Lord Ravager Phantylia. She agreed to help smuggle a Stellaron onto the Luofu, while Luocha would help with the process. Phantilya promised to give them new, undying bodies with the revived Ambrosial Arbor, which Dan Shu found agreeable due to the sect's desire for immortal bodies.
- The activities of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus started drawing attention from the Seat of Divine Foresight and were eventually exposed. Afterwards, Master Diviner Fu Xuan launches an attack on the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus forces in the Alchemy Commission.[31]
- She and the Astral Express Crew encounter Dan Shu, accompanied by the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, at the Aureate Elixir Furnace. Dan Shu is defeated and succumbs to her injuries, and the remaining Disciples are arrested.[32]
- 2 August, Year 8100 Star Calendar ― Lingsha is appointed as the new Cauldron Master of the Luofu Alchemy Commission after Dan Shu's death, replacing her former master, Yunhua.[33]
- ≥August, Year 8100 Star Calendar ― Reports from the Xianzhou Yaoqing revealed that Phantylia, taking on the guise "Mangas", was organizing the borisin groups into larger packs following her defeat at Scalegorge Waterscape, who believed that she would bring them back to greatness. Led by Lord Mok Tok of the Rhinohound Pack, the borisin were able to infiltrate The Shackling Prison. They were successful in freeing the last Warhead Hoolay and escaped the prison.[34][35]
Notes[]
- ↑ While not directly referred to as the first Abundance War, the Flaming Catastrophe is the conflict that directly resulted in the official formation of the Xianzhou Alliance united under The Hunt and is arguably the most significant conflict that shaped the Alliance into what is today. Additionally, Yueyan notes how Muldrasil was destroyed directly after the first Abundance War, and the Flaming Catastrophe is the only known conflict prior to Muldrasil's destruction on the scale of the Abundance Wars.
