Dan Shu (Chinese: 丹枢) is a mission-exclusive NPC located aboard the Xianzhou Luofu.
Former Chief Alchemist of the Alchemy Commission and current wanted leader of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, she is a major character and antagonist in the Adventure Mission Sinners Misled, Credence Falsified.
Profile[]
Dan Shu is a Xianzhou Native and lifelong resident of the Luofu. She is irreversibly blind, and labels herself as well as others with such afflictions as "Incomplete Ones."
As a healer of the Alchemy Commission, she was considered exemplary and eventually became Chief Alchemist. After the banishment of the former Commission head Yunhua, she assumed practical leadership of the Commission.[2]
Personality[]
She initially comes off as a calm and caring person, but later shows a steely, unrelenting side.
Story[]
History[]
Initially a follower of the Reignbow Arbiter, she spent most of her early life researching and experimenting to try and learn of a way to cure her blindness with the help of her best friend, Yufei. When Yufei is enlisted in the war against the Denizens of Abundance, her faith in Lan wanes after witnessing a fellow Incomplete One being cured of his disabilities upon becoming mara-struck.
Yufei is killed in action, and after learning from the Cloud Knights that she was a casualty of the Reignbow Arbiter's Lux Arrow, Dan Shu rejected THEM and turned to Yaoshi, eventually becoming the leader of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, seeking converts to her cause via other members such as Mauve Moon. She puts up the front of a chief alchemist, treating people with normal medicine. Following the banishment of the previous head, Cauldron Master Yunhua, Dan Shu served as the Luofu Alchemy Commission's acting head.
As the Master of the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, Dan Shu made contact with the Lord Ravager Phantylia. She agreed to help smuggle a Stellaron onto the Luofu, while Luocha would help with the process. Phantilya promised to give them new, undying bodies with the revived Ambrosial Arbor, which Dan Shu found agreeable due to the sect's desire for immortal bodies.
Present[]
Dan Shu encounters the Trailblazer when they approach her to help study the Draught of Draconic Surge. After writing her notes on the potion, she asks them to help bring a potion to a blind girl, who was being bullied by other children. The Trailblazer drives them off, though she asks them to help watch the girl after she wanders into the Artisanship Commission and puts herself in danger. Saving the girl a second time, Dan Shu offers the Trailblazer a Brumdew Concentrade Pellet that would improve their health and increase their lifespan. They have the option of taking it or not.
If the Trailblazer took the pellet, they head to the Seat of Divine Foresight and nearly end up killing the guards there, having believed them to be mara-struck. If they did not, they show the pellet to Qingzu, who has it analyzed and discovers it is the same as the pellets manufactured by the Disciples. Regardless, the Trailblazer searches for her to get answers, finding her at the Artisanship Commission. A disciple notices them, but Dan Shu orders them to stand down, as she had considered them a friend despite their short interaction with each other. The Trailblazer then has the option to either attempt to take her into custody or let her go, as she knew they were an outsider that did not need to get involved. Regardless of their decision, Dan Shu eventually leaves the area.[3]
After reviving the Ambrosial Arbor, Dan Shu leads her forces into attacking various areas of the Luofu, with particularly fierce fighting around the Alchemy Commission. To prevent the Alliance from reaching them, Dan Shu had the Aureate Elixir Furnace filled with mara-filled pellets and activated, which would turn any Alliance member into a mara-struck being if they attempted to approach them. Due to their shorter lives, the Astral Express were not affected and shut off the smaller crucibles around the area before confronting her. Recognizing Fu Xuan and pitying her decision to forgo "greater" power, Dan Shu and her members battle the group, only to be defeated. In her dying breath, she begs Phantylia to fulfill her side of the bargain, but to her horror, discovers that she refuses to and was only a pawn in her game before succumbing to her injuries.[4]
