The Cleaners are a group of assassins on Amphoreus. They are tasked with killing the Chrysos Heirs for the Council of Elders.[1]
Overview[]
The Cleaners are able to pass on their memories and experiences to future successors as they deem fit, causing the successor to retain much of the original's memories and personality.
In the #33,550,336th eternal recurrence, Caenis was the leader of the Cleaners, being the twenty-seventh incarnation of the original who additionally held a position in Okhema's Council of Elders. She distrusted Aglaea and attempted to thwart her at every turn, believing that Era Nova needed to be achieved. This iteration of Caenis was killed by Black Tide Creatures after the Flame Reaver led them into Okhema.[2]
In the #33,550,337th eternal recurrence, the Cleaners were caught committing a crime by Cerydra, who originally sentenced them to death. However, Caenis' successor, Darius, pledged loyalty to her and she commuted the sentence in return for their service. Cerydra gave Darius and his companions a "cleaning" list, their first target being the original Caenis. Darius and his companions followed her letters to the order, kiling others that had Cerydra had taken offence to. During two of these operations, the Cleaners took a few casualties, but finished the job. The last target, Dux Ironclad, fiercely resisted and killed numerous Cleaners, causing one to execute him. As Cerydra had intended Dux Ironclad to be subdued and punished rather than killed, this angered her, and she commanded that the Cleaner that had killed him to be burned to death.[3]
