Aqua sprites, historically known as Edars, are an aquatic species that reside on Lushaka.
Description[]
Aqua sprites possess blue wing membranes described as both "navy" and "azurean," onyx eyes, and unique vocal cords capable of producing ethereal sounds. According to stories from deep-sea investigators, these creatures often accompany sea dragons and reside in a silvery city deep underwater — they exist between reality and legend, embodying serenity and liveliness. Luvians consider encounters with aqua sprites to be a lucky omen.[1]
History[]
Long ago, aqua sprites were known by the land-dwellers as Edars, monsters of the deep sea. The two races fiercely vied for survival and it was said that the oceans were dyed red with their blood. Initially, the land-dwellers regarded juvenile Edars as mere fishing catches. Then Edars began luring land-dwellers with their songs to drown. The relentless war persisted both above and below the water's surface until meteors began falling from beyond the skies. This was caused by a Stellaron on the planet, which had responded to the curses of an aqua sprite who had lost her home. The meteors caused the sea level to rise, engulfing all land and cities built upon them. To escape rising deep-water pressure, the aqua sprites constantly migrate upward and live in sunken cities once home to land-dwellers.[1]
In the present, aqua sprites coexist peacefully with Luvians, as both parties are too engrossed in their respective scavenging to pay each other any heed. When stateship singers catch a glimpse of the aqua sprites along their nautical course, they will start to sing a melody: "They journey along the course, in pursuit of the light tower and storm, seeking only to reclaim that pure blue."[1]
