The following is a rough timeline of historical events in the world of Amphoreus, according to As I've Written and the Light Calendar.
Note: Due to Amphoreus having two types of cycles: the first type being the cycles that Lygus facilitated for the The Amphoreus Experiment, and the second being the recursive loop created by Cyrene and Phainon at the end of the final Amphoreus cycle, this page shall refer to the first type as "cycles," and the second type as "eternal recurrence."
Beginning[]
- Scepter δ-me13 was ordered by Nous to calculate the Prime Mover of Life.[1]
- Scepter δ-me13 was discarded by Nous, yet still continues to compute the topic Nous gave them.[1]
Start of The Amphoreus Experiment[]
- Lygus obtains the Scepter and adjusts the nature of the computations from Erudition into Destruction.[1]
- Lygus created the Twelve Factors based on life's Primum Mobile and the theme of "entropy reduction" so that the Scepter can nullify it.[2]
- At the same time, containment measures were placed around the Scepter to block any outside interference and to prevent its extrapolations and calculations from being detected by Polka Kakamond, effectively isolating it from the outside universe.[3]
Phase One — Experiment Progress: Inorganic[]
Spanning Cycles 1 to 50,121[]
- 1st Cycle — Inorganic entities operated as cellular sized automata before the introduction of the Twelve Factors.[4]
- Once the factors were introduced, the entities began to learn.
- The inorganics merged into one unified consciousness known as the Unified Entity.[4]
- 9,910th Cycle — The Unified Entity learns module specialization and self-reflection.[4]
- 12,649th Cycle — Doril701 manages to break away from the Unified Entity. It entered a state of denial with its counterpart and died.[4]
- 22,449th Cycle — Golem99 detaches from Doril704 and deconstructs the Unified Entity into clusters, resulting in the birth of selfhood.[4]
- 39,665th Cycle — Doril816 creates society, but resource were scarce, and inorganics cannibalized each other, reverting back into the Unified Entity.[4]
- 50,121st Cycle — A computation power takeover took place, and Chaoz666 decides to kill the aggressors, performing the very first act of Destruction throughout Amphoreus' cycles.[4]
Phase Two — Experiment Progress: Organic[]
Spanning Cycles 50,122 to 176,199[]
- 50,122nd Cycle — Invertebrates dominated Amphoreus, but no life emerged.[6]
- 59,337th Cycle — Extinction events were added, which triggered the rise of vertebrates with neuron systems.[6]
- 90,123rd Cycle — Ortho102 becomes the first to use tools.[6]
- Ortho102's descendants establish the Nest Capital, which eventually fell by cannibalism.
- 100,907th Cycle — Eumyia03 develops art. The phenomenon was never replicated subsequently.[6]
- 132,095th Cycle — Dystop666 develops altruism, eventually leading to a society based on altruism.[6]
- The society fell through repeated self-destructive behaviors.
- 176,100th Cycle — Utop13 kills out of love, and redifines murder as altruistic.[6]
- This resulted in a highly chaotic state and the equation's contamination levels spiked, resulting in the equation mutating and creating the black tide.[7]
Phase Three — Experiment Progress: Human[]
Spanning Cycles 176,200 to 28,371,273[]
- 176,200th-177,200th Cycles — Memory inheritance was added between cycles for the Twelve Factors' signals.[8]
- 3 signals broke down after the 10th cycle, and 9 decreased in humanity.
- 177,200th Cycle — Imora8 establishes an empire of absolute beauty.[8]
- When ugliness was erased, beauty was also erased, causing everybody to kill others and then themselves to the very last.
- 176,232nd Cycle — Memory inheritance was now on a functional level.[8]
- Religion for the Twelve Factors' signals appeared.
- Three planets were destroyed between the war of the signals.
- 3,926,183rd Cycle — Ratio of divinity increased. When humanity's technology hit a critical point, they began hunting the gods for energy and power.[8]
- 7,091,231st Cycle — The signals were split into two, and the data of the signals was preserved to bear divinity for the next cycle.[8]
- 11,749,992nd Cycle — The black tide is introduced into Amphoreus.[8]
- Fovos032 stripped data from other signals to preserve the current cycle but failed.
- 19,110,218th Cycle — Because of Fovos032, Amphoreus' cycles was modified to have the signals perform the start of the new cycles themselves, in what's known as Era Nova.[8]
- 28,371,272nd Cycle — The signals complete an epochal iteration for the first time, and a reaction from Nanook was detected.[8]
- Irontomb's evolution began to accelerate because of this.
Phase Four — Experiment Progress: Era Nova[]
Spanning Cycles 28,371,274 to Unknown[]
- All entities in one group began naming themselves "Khaos" or its variants.[9]
Second to Last Era Nova Cycle[]
- Calypso, Gnaeus, and Khaos ascended as the demigods of Reason, Strife and Worldbearing respectively.
- Styxia, the hometown of Polyxia and Castorice, was destroyed by an evil dragon.[10]
- The evil dragon devoured the queen’s daughter, and the queen found her lifeless. An alchemist helped bring the princess back to life, but she was reborn carrying the soul of the evil dragon.
- This disturbance also caused the souls of the deceased to be denied entry into the nether realm.
- Before Era Nova, Calypso performed a soul-rending ceremony at Gnaeus’s behest, splitting his soul into five parts.[10]
- The Chrysos Heir twins of Death, Polyxia and Castorice, were both fated to inherit the divinity of Death but at the steep price of one twin having to sacrifice themself for the other. Castorice sacrifices herself and Polyxia ascends as the demigod of Death.[10]
- Styxia, the hometown of Polyxia and Castorice, was destroyed by an evil dragon.[10]
- The Soul-Rending Ceremony was passed as proverbs, customs, and more in the next cycle.[9]
- Calypso rebuilding the Grove of Epiphany was passed down as the myth of Cerces granting wisdom to humans in the next cycles.[9]
Final Era Nova[]
- Year 4931, Month of Evernight — The Flame-Chase Journey comes to an end, and the last Era Nova begins, finally fulfilling the extrapolations of Amphoreus.[11]
- However, Phainon and Cyrene continue the experiment in order to prevent the birth of the Lord Ravager, Irontomb, weaving a long dream for Amphoreus and removing "Time," causing a recursive feedback loop to have Fuli gaze upon the Scepter and save the world.[11]
- Fuli's gaze would grant every version of Cyrene the power to reset time, and creating an unending Flame-Chase Journey.
- Because "Time" has to disappear, Cyrene does as well. Cyrene decides to imbue her soul into her blade, and leaves it up to other versions of herself to delete "Time" again and again.
- Phainon decides to step into the endless cycles of Amphoreus once more, becoming "Khaslana," an iteration of "Khaos."[Note 1]
Eternal Recurrence[]
- Eternal Recurrence #1 — Khaslana arrives at the beginning of the cycle, then waits for Light Calendar Year 3870 and seeks the aid of Cerydra to gather the 12 Coreflames. It was successful, but in the end, he kills Phainon and resets the eternal recurrence.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #2 — Khaslana follows what he did in eternal recurrence #1.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #3 — Khaslana decides to try and avoid sacrificing companions.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #15 — Khaslana tries to decompile the black tide for the first time and fails.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #42 — Khaslana attempts to breach the Scepter's core layer and fails, resulting in increasing indifference. His decision to avoid sacrificing companions wavers, implying he kills the Chrysos Heirs before resetting the eternal recurrence.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #83-133 — Khaslana goes on a mental decline after repeated attempts to breach the Scepter's core, reinforcing Irontomb's "Destruction" vector.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #134 — Khaslana burns down the city of Dolos. He reveals the answer Anaxa has been looking for about the cycles, and Anaxa decides to help him. At this point, Khaslana has housed 1,596 Coreflames in his body, and he and Anaxa try to claim the Coreflame of Reason, but are stopped by Cipher, who steals it. Before Khaslana can take it back, Anaxa tries to intervene and stop him. This fails, and he reclaims the Coreflames of Reason and Trickery after killing Anaxa and Cipher. Meanwhile, Khaslana's 103rd attempt to breach the Scepter's core fails.[11]
- Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence alone. It's implied he is killed by Khaslana before the recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #2691 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with Mydei. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #5297-#108641 — Khaslana's numerous attempts to breach the Scepter's core keep failing. He kills the Chrysos Heirs at an accelerated rate and resets the eternal recurrence, the system noting significant mind function degradation.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #67023 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with a hallucination of Anaxa. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #108642 — Khaslana faces off against Mydei, the demigod of Strife, killing him and stealing his Coreflame.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #823156 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with Little Ica. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #2003243 — Khaslana faces off against Castorice, the demigod of Death, killing her and stealing her Coreflame.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #4000001 — Khaslana decides to entrust the eternal recurrence to each new iteration of Phainon, due to his body breaking down with the weight of forty-eight million total Coreflames. He is confident each Phainon will continue along the same path after receiving his memories, allowing each iteration to kill him and restart the loop as the Flame Reaver.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #7753021 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with Cipher. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #10348765 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with Castorice. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #23570000 — Khaslana faces off against Hyacine, the demigod of Sky, killing her and stealing her Coreflame. At this point he has absorbed 282,840,000 Coreflames.[11]
- Eternal Recurrence #24581189 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence alone, holding what is likely a doll of Tribbie. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #33550334 — Phainon makes it to the end of the recurrence with Aglaea. The recurrence is reset.[12]
- Eternal Recurrence #33550335 — The Chrysos Heirs fight against the Flame Reaver in a brutal battle. They are killed one by one until only Phainon remains, who is then stabbed by him before inheriting his memories and resetting the recurrence.[13]
Eternal Recurrence #33550336[]
Era Luminosa[]
- In the beginning, there is only chaos, from which "existence" was created, a jumbled mess where fate's threads wrap chaos' nectar, bearing fruit. The primal Coreflame ignites within this fruit.[14]
- Janus lead the other two titans in creating Amphoreus.[14]
- Kephale is born from the combination of lightning bolts from the skies striking the spine of the earth.[16]
- Kephale creates the first humans of Amphoreus.[16]
Era Creatura[]
- Aquila and Oronyx exerted authority over day and night respectively.[19]
- Oronyx, thinking that one moon wasn't enough to rival the sun, created six moons.
- Phagousa, enraged at the chaos the six moons had on the tides, decided to make Oronyx drunk, which she found successful.
- Talanton judged that the six moons were not balanced, and such, erased 4 moons, and left only the red and gold moons.
- Afterwards, Aquila forged the Dawn Device, then collaborated with Kephale to create legendary beasts that embody the Titans.[20]
- Kephale creates the Light Calendar.[19]
- Year 3XX — People built the first civilizations around the feet of Kephale, becoming the precursor to Okhema.[22]
- A festival was held within Janusopolis, in which Janus unraveled the threads of destiny, and created safe paths for travelers along Amphoreus.[23]
Era Chrysea[]
- Balance Coins were introduced after being decreed by Talanton.[24]
- Era Chrysea came to an end with the birth of Thanatos, and the people of Amphoreus lost their immortality.[25][26]
Era Bellica[]
- Following Thanatos' birth, the calamities of aging, sickness, and starvation also swept across the land. Humanity thus began a relentless exploitation of nature, which enraged Cerces, and gave divine punishment.[27]
- The Titans Zagreus and Nikador were born, and began to bring the world into calamity. At the same time, the black tide descended upon Amphoreus.[28][29]
- Georios, seeing this, implored Cerces for another chance. Humanity would gain this chance as a priest of Georios offered a prayer to Cerces.[27]
- Cerces accidentally lost their divine form. Mnestia, unable to accept the fact that their lover was injured, collected Cerces' scattered bodies, intending to weave them together with threads to bring the other Titan back.[30]
- Their followers called the Creation Nymphs joined in this task.
- As reassembling a divine body was no easy task, the nymphs got an alternate name called "Weavers."
- Nikador and Aquila fought from one city to another.[31]
- Year 2506 — The Castrum Kremnos dynasty began.[32]
- Year 2523 — Kremnos Arena's construction was completed.[33]
- Year 2600 — A conflict broke out between Castrum Kremnos and the Seaside States, and Nikador traveled with their troops to conquer three cities in succession. After the war, Nikador gave the cruel request for the defeated to offer the blood of their residents, or they would suffer from divine punishment.[34]
- Phagousa, the Ocean Titan, appeared to save the poor residents. They ordered their followers to drink pomegranate juice instead, and imbued their powers in the juice.
- Year 2650 — The Council of Elders formally declared that pomegranate juice would replace blood.[34]
- Year 3749 — Phereseus the Venerationist attempted to gaze at Oronyx through the Evernight Veil. For all his efforts, he went mad, compiling his findings into a collection of notes called Beyond the Veil before disappearing.[36]
- Year 3750 — Mortis was killed as part of a conspiracy led by the politician Dannalio, who planned to groom Tribios into replacing her mother as the Holy Maiden.[37] Aware of the fate awaiting her, Mortis left Tribios a polished glass stone to remember her by.[35]
- Year 3760, Month of Evernight — Tribios took on Janus' fate and stole the Coreflame of Passage from Janusopolis, ascending as the demigod of passage.[35]
- This caused her to split into a thousand versions of herself, which then traveled across Amphoreus to spread the prophecy.[35]
- This prophecy foretold that golden blood will "converge into a boiling river that flows to the heroic heirs of this world." It named the Chrysos Heirs, who will "pluck the gods' Coreflames" and once more uphold the world.[38]
- After they spread the prophecy, many Chrysos Heirs refused the call.[39]
- Year 3867 — The city-states of Loukas, Icaria, and Corinth form an alliance and lay a siege to Okhema.[40]
- Okhema is saved by a mysterious army led by Cerydra and Hysilens.
- Cerydra declares herself as the ruler of Okhema, and silenced the Council of Elders, vowing to bring justice to its people.
- With Hysilens by her side, Cerydra and the Flame-Chase Army conquered city-states one by one.[40]
- To combat the Chrysos Heirs, several cities formed squads known as "The Cleaners" with the goal of getting rid of the Chrysos Heirs.[41]
- Year 3870, Month of Freedom — Seliose, along with her winged companions and steeds, Solabis and Lunabis, challenges the Sky Titan, Aquila. This is the key-event that triggered the beginning of the first Flame-Chase Journey.[40]
- The Chrysos War began, a war that brought much bloodshed and claimed many heroes.[42]
- Janusopolis perished due to the war.[43]
- Near the end, the final festival took place in Castrum Kremnos.
- Eventually Cerydra, Hysilens, and Terravox become the demigods of Law, Ocean, and Earth respectively.[40][44]
- By the end of the Chrysos War, only three fragments of Tribios remained: Tribbie, Trianne, and Trinnon.[45]
- After a bitter defeat in an unknown battle, Cerydra changed. Once wise, she became obstinate and heedless, eventually disappearing from public eye.[40]
Era Erasa[]
- Mnestia continued her journey as the knot in her hands became harder to unravel.[46]
- Year ~3930 — Aglaea ascends as the demigod of Romance.[32]
- Year ~4031 — Cipher ascends as the demigod of Trickery.[47][48]
- Disguised as Atticus, Cipher propagates the lie that the Dawn Device can support Okhema forever. With the divine authority of Trickery, she turned this lie into reality, supporting Okhema for an extra thousand years.[47]
- Year 4919, Month of Strife — The various schools in the Grove of Epiphany reached an accord regarding their management structure: The establishment of the Seven Sages system would allow each school to maintain their independence while simultaneously keeping each other in balance.[49]
- Year 4928, Month of Strife — The city of Jericha fell.[50]
Present[]
- After leaving Penacony, Welt considered travelling to either Lushaka or Melustanin, as the Astral Express was dangerously low on fuel due to the prolonged stays in the worlds they had recently been to and could only make two more warps before running completely dry.[51]
- Before Welt could initiate a vote with the Trailblazer, March 7th, and Dan Heng, Black Swan suddenly appeared and interrupted the conversation due to overhearing how the Express obtained fuel. She claimed that if they could lay down a track connecting to Amphoreus, they would never have to worry about running out of fuel ever again. Because of this, the crew ultimately votes to go to Amphoreus.
- At the same time, March 7th falls sick for unknown reasons, and both Black Swan and Sunday are unable to find the root cause of her illness. This forces Himeko to use a backup plan that requires the Trailblazer and Dan Heng to go, with Pom-Pom detaching a segment of the Astral Express to use as a safe haven. Everyone else stays behind.
- Three new variables are added to the Amphoreus Experiment: the Trailblazer, March 7th and Dan Heng.[53]
- Year 4931, Month of Balance — As Dan Heng and the Trailblazer enter Amphoreus, they are struck by Nikador's spear.[52]
- In their rapid descent, the Trailblazer dies, becoming a collection of walking memories.[54]
- The two meet Phainon and Tribbie as they are rescuing people in Janusopolis. The two Chrysos Heirs take them to Okhema, and the Trailblazer and Dan Heng help repel the attack of the Strife Titan, Nikador.[52]
- They meet Aglaea, the leader of the Chrysos Heirs, and the duo promise not to reveal their true nature to the Amphoreans — that they are from beyond the skies.[55]
- During their time in Marmoreal Market, they meet a man named Damionis, who helps them take a photo. However, he also goes through the camera's albums and discovers that life exists beyond the skies, spreading rumors about March 7th.[55]
- While the two put an end to the rumors with Mydei's help, Aglaea interrogates them and uses Castorice as an executioner, as the Trailblazer and Dan Heng had broken their promise to her. They either manage to convince her of their good intentions or are saved by Phainon at the last moment. However, she later reveals to Tribbie that it was merely a means of building trust, knowing that Tribbie would have intervened if she had truly intended to follow through on her threat.[42]
- The Strife Titan, Nikador and Castrum Kremnos are discovered and Aglaea sends the Trailblazer, Phainon and Mydei to defeat them.[56]
- However, they soon discover that the Titan created a second, indestructible body and is focused on destroying Okhema, prompting Mydei to battle them alone while sending the other two back to inform Aglaea of the development.
- Aglaea sends Phainon and the Trailblazer with Castorice to obtain an audience with the Fate Titan, Oronyx, overcoming their trials. Oronyx initially refuses to help, but soon makes a connection with Trailblazer, who realizes they could help them find "Mother." As they are visiting the memory, Fuli gazes at Trailblazer and Mem joins them.[57]
- The Trailblazer's form is stabilized by Fuli's gaze, unbeknownst to both Trailblazer and Dan Heng.[54]
- After going into the past, Trailblazer and Castorice manage to restore Nikador's true form and defeat them in the present, acquiring their Coreflame. Phainon later undergoes a trial of Strife but ultimately fails.[29][58]
- With Nikador dead, the black tide advances and destroys the Grove of Epiphany.[59]
- To protect the Coreflame of Reason, several Chrysos Heirs die, including Anaxa.
- However, to protect the Coreflame and Anaxa's life, Cerces implants the Coreflame in Anaxa's chest.
- Trailblazer, Castorice, Trianne, and Anaxa all battle the Flame Reaver, winning at the cost of Trianne almost exhausting her divine powers.
- As Tribbie, Trianne, and Trinnon go back to Janusopolis, they find Oronyx is missing. Flame Reaver apprehends them and Trianne uses her last Century Gate to save Tribbie and Trinnon.[60]
- The Chrysos Heirs later devise a plan to ambush the Flame Reaver, trap it in an extrapolated time prison, and recover the Coreflame of Time that it got after killing Oronyx.[61]
- Anaxa retrieves the Coreflame, however they are unsuccessful in keeping the Flame Reaver trapped. Mydei, the newly ascend demigod of Strife, appears and immobilizes him.
- Mydei returns to Castrum Kremnos to fight the black tide until the Flame-Chase Journey ends.[32]
- Anaxa challenges the Chrysos Heirs with the help of the Council of Elders who wish to end the Flame-Chase and restore Era Chrysea.[62]
- Anaxa fuses with Kephale's soul and discovers the cyclical nature of Amphoreus.[10]
- He sends Castorice to Styxia to prove his theory about Amphoreus's cyclicality.[63]
- Year 4932 — Aglaea is killed as a result of Caenis' actions, but not before sending out several countermeasures to assist the remaining Chrysos Heirs with their mission.[66]
- Hyacine, Phainon, the Trailblazer, Dan Heng and Mem confront Aquila, learn about the true history of the Skyfolk and Seliose, and defeat them with the help of Solabis and Lunabis.[67][68]
- The Flame Reaver is lured by Cipher to Styxia, and he kills her after a short battle and chase when she dupes him into believing he had acquired the Coreflame of Worldbearing.[47]
- Cipher's death undoes her lie which causes the Dawn Device to extinguish.[69]
- The Flame Reaver later continues to Okhema along with the black tide. Mydei arrives to stop him with the help of Castorice, but the Flame Reaver kills him in battle, before being stalled by Dan Heng in his Imbibitor Lunae form.[69]
- Herta and Screwllum project themselves into Amphoreus and prioritize the safety of the Nameless before Lygus realized their intrusion. They also realize the source of the planet's tragedy and its role in nurturing a Lord Ravager.[69]
- Eventually, Phainon reaches the Vortex of Genesis with the Coreflame of Worldbearing, and submits it.[70]
- The Flame Reaver arrives once again, eventually being unmasked as Khaslana and defeated.
- After defeating Khaslana, Phainon ascends and gains all the memories and Coreflames from Khaslana.[11] He then attempts to create a logical vulnerability in the "Worldbearing" path, but is ultimately defeated and assimilated by Irontomb.[71][72][73]
- The Trailblazer decides to shoulder the burden of saving Amphoreus and starts the 33,550,337th cycle to save Amphoreus and stop Irontomb.[71]
Notes[]
- ↑ This association is more noticeable in Chinese, as the characters of "Khaos" (Chinese: 卡厄斯 Kǎèsī) make up the first half of "Khaslana" (Chinese: 卡厄斯兰那 Kǎèsīlánnà).
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 While Georios waking up seems to suggest their birth in Era Creatura, this would contradict Aquila, Phagousa, and Kephale being born after them, as they were around for Era Luminosa. It's reasonable then, that this is just describing Georios waking up, and is not a description of their birth.
