History[]

During the time when the Ten Stonehearts voted whether to remove Aventurine from their ranks or not, Agate was absent, enough that their fellow Stoneheart Obsidian speculated they might even be dead. In their absence, Agate had Obsidian act as their representative, and Obsidian used Agate's vote and her own vote to vote in favor of expelling Aventurine.

Trivia[]

  • Agate's silhouette in Myriad Celestia Trailer: Stoneheart's Oath Ring: Both Ends of the Scale features a statue of Caishen (Chinese: 财神 Cáishén), the god of wealth in Chinese mythology.

Etymology[]

  • Agate is an ore form of silicon dioxide (SiO2). The stone was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the Dirillo River or Achates (Greek: Ἀχάτης) in Sicily.
  • 玛瑙 Mǎnǎo is the Chinese name of agate. The ore was originally called 马脑 Mǎnǎo, "horse's brain" due to its color, and later the name was changed to 玛瑙 during the translation of Buddhist texts.
