Dialogue[]
- (First interaction)
- A-Ying: Oh, how is this enough money for the whole family? We'll go broke if I don't get work soon...
- A-Ying: Hey, look at this bigshot boss over here! Hello, boss, is this your first time aboard the Luofu? You look like a stranger in a strange land, and there's panic in the streets. If you're here to pick up some stock...
- A-Ying: But don't you worry! I've worked in Cloudford for decades. Doesn't matter how complicated the bureaucracy is, nothing is an issue for me, especially things like customs clearance and unloading goods.
- A-Ying: Look, do you need any—
No thanks. I'm no merchant.
Sorry. I'm just passing through.- A-Ying: Ah, It's you. I haven't even made a sale yet today and I'm just chilling. If you like, I can tell you a little bit about my work. And I'll bet there's nobody else aboard the Luofu who's better at handling freight than me.
- A-Ying: You might not need it now, but just in case there's some time in the future when I could help you out... haha!
- (Continue onto dialogue options below)
- (Subsequent interactions)
- A-Ying: Hey boss! Need any help there? We support all kinds of freight needs. We're also having special discounts on orders now!
- A-Ying: Ah, It's you. I haven't even made a sale yet today and I'm just chilling. If you like, I can tell you a little bit about my work. And I'll bet there's nobody else aboard the Luofu who's better at handling freight than me.
- A-Ying: You might not need it now, but just in case there's some time in the future when I could help you out... haha!
I'd like to ask...
- A-Ying: Feel free to ask anything. I know my way around all the freight handling procedures in Cloudford!
Your scope of operations sounds pretty broad, huh?
- A-Ying: Sure is. Cloudford is a high traffic port but it's very competitive, so it's tough to make a living here.
- A-Ying: Naturally, I don't just handle packing and unloading — that's far too simple. I also handle all kinds of procedures, like cargo entry, customs clearance, and quarantine inspections.
- A-Ying: But of course, every customer has their own custom order. The specifics of what I actually do are governed by the needs of the customer.
Can you tell me a little bit about your work?
- A-Ying: Handling freight — packing and unloading — sounds simple enough, right? It's just containers being moved around by a big mechanical crane. But in practice, it takes a lot of learning to do. I've been doing this day-in, day-out for decades. That's just how long it takes to earn a reputation for it.
- A-Ying: As for me, everyone in the business knows I'm the most careful person out there. Every time I start a project, I'll strictly follow safety guidelines and procedures. That typically works out best for both me and the customer.
- A-Ying: Why, if you don't believe me, then just ask around over at the jetty. My damaged goods rate is easily the lowest in all of Cloudford!
What are you doing out taking orders at this time?
- A-Ying: It's been pretty rough out there recently, but there's nothing I can do. I've got a family to support who can't just wait it out! With so many mouths to feed back home, I can't just stop working. No work means no income.
- A-Ying: We're both adults. You understand, right? Whether you're an Outworlder or a Xianzhou native, we all need to earn a living! ...It's not like we have a choice in the matter, right?
Why don't you use an ingenium to automatically handle freight for you?
- A-Ying: Xianzhou mastered the technology a long time ago to kit out any ingenium to do everything as quickly and as well as I do it. So then, what am I still around for, huh? Think about it, kid.
- A-Ying: If a machine does this job for me, what am I going to do? Just sit there idling the day away? Why, I'd slowly become a destabilizing factor for the Xianzhou, wouldn't I? Are you starting to catch my drift?
- A-Ying: Or to put it another way, how much tax would an automatic ingenium pay to the Realm-Keeping Commission? Nothing.
I don't have any more questions.
- A-Ying: Okay!
